Scene: Marcus Enterprises – Isabella's Office
The heavy knock on the door was unexpected, making Isabella glance up from her paperwork. She frowned when she saw Alina standing in the doorway, her expression cold and determined.
“Alina,” Isabella greeted, her voice measured but wary. She had heard rumors that Alina might try to interfere, but she didn’t expect this confrontation so soon.
Alina didn’t waste time with pleasantries. “We need to talk,” she said, stepping into the office without waiting for an invitation. She closed the door behind her with a firm click.
Isabella straightened in her chair, her posture suddenly rigid. “What’s this about, Alina?”
Alina’s eyes narrowed, and she leaned against the desk, her tone sharp. “Stay away from Nathan. He’s getting married to me. And if you really cared about him like you claim, you’d stop playing these games and let him move on.”
Isabella’s breath caught in her throat, but she refused to let Alina see her weakness. “Don’t come into my office and try to tell me what to do. Nathan and I have a history—more than you could ever understand. You don’t get to control his life, Alina.”
Alina’s lips curled into a smirk, her voice dripping with disdain. “You think you can just waltz back in and sweep him off his feet after all this time? You think he’ll forget about everything? Nathan is mine now, Isabella. He’s promised to me.”
“Promise or no promise,” Isabella said, rising from her desk and walking toward Alina. “Nathan and I have been through hell together. You can’t just waltz into our lives and expect us to fall apart. If you think you can just take him from me, you’re wrong.”
Alina’s eyes flickered with anger, but she didn’t back down. “You really believe that, don’t you? That you can just claim him again? Well, newsflash, Isabella: Nathan doesn’t want you anymore. You’re just a memory. And you’ll lose him for good this time. The media, your family, your reputation—it’s all working against you.”
Isabella took a step forward, her fists clenching at her sides. “You have no idea what Nathan and I went through. You have no idea what we meant to each other. I’m not some passing fling you can erase with a few headlines. And I’m not going to let you destroy him for your own selfish desires.”
Alina’s lips twitched, and for a moment, a flicker of doubt crossed her eyes. But she quickly masked it with a cold smile. “I’ll do whatever it takes to keep him, Isabella. You’re nothing but an obstacle in my way.”
Isabella’s chest tightened with a mix of frustration and determination. “You can try to manipulate him, try to tear us apart, but it won’t work. Nathan and I are in love. We have been for years. And nothing you do will change that. You’re wasting your time.”
Alina’s smile faltered, replaced by a more calculating expression. “We’ll see about that.”
At that moment, Alina discreetly pulled her phone from her bag, her thumb skimming over the screen as she started recording their conversation. Isabella didn’t notice, too focused on the argument escalating between them.
Alina continued with a voice laced with venom. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you, Isabella. Nathan is mine. And you’ll never be able to change that. So keep dreaming about him, keep holding onto the past... but in the end, it’ll be me walking down the aisle with him, not you.”
Isabella glared at her, her heart pounding. “You’ll never win, Alina. Love isn’t a competition—it’s something real. And that’s something you’ll never understand.”
The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife. Alina didn’t respond immediately, but her eyes held a sharp edge.
Finally, she turned toward the door, pausing with her hand on the knob. “We’ll see, won’t we?” she said coldly. “But remember this, Isabella: I’ll always be one step ahead of you.”
She opened the door, leaving Isabella standing in the silence of the office, her mind racing. But as Alina stepped out, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. The exchange had been too calculated, too carefully staged.

Alina sat in her sleek black car, a malicious smile playing on her lips as she reviewed the recording on her phone. Every word Isabella had spoken was captured in perfect clarity. She leaned back in the seat, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction.
This was exactly what she needed. The evidence was undeniable, and now she had the ammunition to destroy Isabella once and for all.
“Game on, Isabella,” she muttered under her breath, her fingers scrolling through the contact list on her phone. She had one more move to make, and once it was in motion, Isabella would have no choice but to step out of the way.

Isabella sat back down at her desk, the adrenaline from the confrontation still buzzing through her veins. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right. Her mind kept replaying Alina’s words, the way she spoke with such certainty about Nathan and their future.
She leaned back in her chair, pressing her hands to her temples, trying to steady herself. She couldn’t let Alina manipulate her, and she wouldn’t back down now—not after everything they had been through.
But little did Isabella know, this conversation would be the turning point in the battle for Nathan’s heart.
