Scene: Isabella’s Announcement
Isabella sat at her desk, the weight of the decision heavy on her shoulders. She had spent the whole day in meetings, but now, there was no escaping the looming situation. The news had already spread, and the media would be relentless. With a deep breath, she picked up the phone and called a meeting with her staff, her expression determined.
Mercy and a few key people in her team gathered around the conference table. Isabella stood at the head, her voice calm but firm as she addressed the room.
“I know you all are aware of the rumors surrounding Alina’s upcoming birthday party,” Isabella began. “It’s been brought to my attention that some people are hoping I’ll back down, that I’ll refuse to go, and that by doing so, I’ll let them control the narrative.”
She paused, making eye contact with everyone in the room, the room filled with hushed anticipation.
“Well, I’m not backing down,” she continued. “I will be attending Alina’s birthday party. I refuse to let them paint me as the coward or the one who’s guilty of something. If they want to challenge me, then I’ll meet them head-on.”
Mercy, who had been standing by her side, opened her mouth to say something but paused, understanding that Isabella had made her choice. She nodded, fully supportive but worried.
"I think this is a bold move," Mercy said. "But we have to be careful. They will twist this, Isabella. You know that."
"I’m prepared for whatever comes next,” Isabella replied with a nod. “It’s time they see I’m not afraid."

Scene: Nathan’s Reaction
At the same time, Nathan was in his office, staring at his phone. He had been distracted all day, his mind on Isabella and the growing tension between them. The announcement of Alina’s party had been all over the news, and he had heard whispers from his parents about it too. But he hadn’t expected Isabella to go—he thought she might avoid it to protect herself.
Just as he was about to dial her number, a text came through from one of his team members, linking to a news update:
Isabella Marcus has officially confirmed she will be attending Alina Harrington's upcoming birthday party, despite the drama surrounding her relationship with Nathan Maxwell. Sources claim that Isabella is determined to face her adversaries head-on.
Nathan’s eyes narrowed as he read the message. His chest tightened. He had hoped she wouldn’t go, but now that she had decided, he couldn’t deny how proud he was of her for standing tall in the face of it all. Still, the situation was far from ideal.
He grabbed his jacket and stormed out of his office, heading straight for the parking lot. He needed to see her, to talk to her. He couldn't let her go through this alone, even if things between them were strained.

Scene: Nathan Confronts Isabella
Nathan arrived at Marcus Enterprises, and the moment he stepped through the doors, he spotted Isabella speaking with Mercy by the elevator. He strode over quickly, his expression intense. Isabella turned at the sound of his footsteps, and for a brief moment, their eyes locked.
“You’re going to the party?” Nathan asked, his voice quiet but full of emotion.
Isabella stood tall, meeting his gaze without flinching. “I have to. I can’t let them win, Nathan. If I don’t show up, it will be seen as me running away from the truth. I won’t let them control me like that.”
Nathan took a step closer, his face a mixture of frustration and concern. “But this isn’t just about your reputation, Isabella. It’s about everything they’ve done to you—everything they’ve done to us. Why put yourself through this? They’ll try to tear you apart.”
Isabella felt a pang in her chest, his words hitting harder than she expected. But she couldn’t back down now. “I’m not going to let them tear me apart. If they want to ruin me, they’ll have to face me first. I won’t be intimidated. I won’t back down.”
Nathan reached out, his fingers brushing against hers, a soft touch full of longing. "I don't want to see you hurt. I just... I care about you."
Isabella’s heart clenched at his words. She looked away, fighting back the emotions that were welling up inside her. “You don’t understand, Nathan. Everything’s already complicated enough between us. I’m doing this because I have no choice. But that doesn’t mean I’m not scared.”
Nathan pulled his hand back, his jaw clenching in frustration. “You don’t have to do this alone, Isabella. I’ll be there with you. I’m not letting you face this without me.”
Isabella shook her head, her gaze softening as she looked at him. "I can't ask you to do that, Nathan. You’ve already got your own problems. And besides, we... we’re not exactly on the same side right now."
Nathan’s eyes darkened, the hurt evident in his expression. “I’m on your side. I always will be. But I can’t just watch you walk into this storm without offering my help. I care about you, Isabella. More than you know.”
For a brief moment, the world around them seemed to fade as they stood there, their hearts raw and their emotions hanging heavy in the air. But the reality of their situation couldn’t be ignored. They were standing on opposite sides of a battlefield that neither of them had chosen.
Isabella finally broke the silence, her voice barely above a whisper. "I have to do this alone, Nathan. I appreciate everything you've done for me, but this is something I have to handle myself."
Nathan watched her for a long moment, pain flashing in his eyes. “I don’t want to lose you, Isabella. But if you need to do this alone... then I’ll respect that."
Isabella turned to walk away, her heart breaking with every step. But she knew deep down that her decision to go to the party was something she had to do for herself. And whatever happened next, she would face it head-on.
