I struggled to open my heavy eyelids, but they refused to budge. My head throbbed with a relentless ache, and my eyelids felt like they were made of lead. The sound of approaching footsteps caught my attention, but I couldn't figure out their source. After several attempts, I managed to flutter my eyes open, and I surveyed the room with unfocused vision. Gradually, my gaze cleared, and I took in the enormity of the space. I was lying on a soft, plush bed in a lavish room. How did I get here? The room had a bright glow, and it exuded class. Attempting to move, my body revolted, and I groaned in protest. "Ma'am, are you all right?" A voice asked, causing me to stiffen. I turned my eyes to the source and observed a middle-aged woman peering down at me, dressed in formal attire. Three other women, dressed as maids, flanked her. "Where am I?" I asked in a raspy voice. "Am I in heaven?" Her lips twitched ever so slightly as she replied, "No, ma'am, you're not." "Why am I here then?" I asked, my voice hoarse. "You passed out from exhaustion on your way here," she said, her eyes darting behind her. "This is your husband's home." Husband? My heart raced with confusion as I struggled to comprehend her words. Gradually, the fog in my mind cleared, and I remembered that I had gotten married the day before. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks, and I groaned, the pounding in my head worsening. "Are you sure I passed out from exhaustion?" I asked again, skepticism lacing my words. If I remembered correctly, I was actually drugged. She nodded, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. I scowled at her, still unsure of what to believe Suddenly, the door burst open, and a lady walked in with a regal air. "Everyone, please leave the room," she ordered, her voice ringing with authority. The women bowed, casting a quick glance at me before hurrying out, leaving us alone. I turned towards the sound of the voice and saw an elegant woman dressed in a black gown that hugged her curves perfectly. Her blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders, brushing against the bed as she leaned over me. Her skin had an ethereal glow, and her red-painted lips added to her overwhelming beauty. I gulped nervously, feeling small and insignificant in her presence. She was simply stunning. Her gaze locked onto mine, and a small smile played at the corners of her lips. "My brother certainly has good taste," she murmured to herself, her eyes still fixed on me. I shifted uncomfortably, feeling exposed and vulnerable. Did she just say her brother? Was the man I married related to her? If she was his sister, then perhaps he wasn't as unattractive as he seemed behind the mask. I took a closer look at the woman, noticing the subtle details that added to her charm. "What's your name, sweetie?" she asked, her voice warm and inviting. "Olivia," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. She seemed to mull it over for a moment, her eyes never leaving mine. "Such a pretty name. I like it. My name is Catherine. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance," she said, a corner of her lips curling up into a friendly smile. "I do hope the maids weren't too harsh on you? They can be quite the taskmasters at times." I was taken aback by her comment about the maids. It suddenly dawned on me that the people I had seen earlier were actually maids, but they had been so polite that I didn't realize it at first. "Maids?" I asked in disbelief. Catherine chuckled lightly, clearly amused by my reaction. "Yes, my dear, they are the maids. This is a grand house, after all." My thoughts were jumbled and I couldn't focus on the maids any longer. I needed to find out where my husband was. "Excuse me, Catherine, but could you tell me where my husband is?" I blurted out without thinking. A mischievous grin spread across Catherine's face. "Oh, my dear, are you already so eager for your first night with him? I wouldn't have held him back for you," she teased, and I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment. "N-no, that's not what I meant," I stammered, trying to regain my composure. "I just wanted to know where he is... and to talk to him." Catherine's grin widened, and I couldn't help but feel like she knew something that I didn't. I needed to find out what was going on, and fast. "Well, you'll have to wait a few hours for that to happen," she told me, her tone gentle. "For now, just rest. I will have the maids bring you breakfast." With that, she walked out of the room, cutting off any chance of me asking more questions. I was still extremely confused. Who was my husband and how did I find myself in this strange place? Why did the driver do something to me, and why did I have to wait hours to talk to this man? All these questions and more swirled around in my head, but of course, there were no answers to any of them. I could only do one thing: wait
