Chapter Fifty-Two: The Night The Raven Lost Its Wings VI

1207 Words
Kat “For god’s sake, fold if you don’t have good cards; what’s wrong with you?!” Kat yelled over the noise in the pub to Breca, who, for the nth time, lost to an obvious bluff. “Good game Kat!” Old man Mateo, Brecs’s opponent, gave her a toothless smile, then reached for the pile of golden chips stacked at the centre of the table. “Yeah, f**k you too, old man.” She gave her lavender smoking pipe one last inhale before emptying the ashes on the table and pocketing it. “Wair! Wr! Juss’ un morr gme, I swear I cn wir.” {Wait! Wait! Just one more game, I swear I can win!} Breca slurred, then grabbed Mateo’s sleeve. “Oh shut up! You’ve already lost your freaking shoes!” Breca is as bad at drinking as she is at gambling. Still, her state made it all the more convenient for Kat to grab her by the collar and drag her out of the noise filled venue. ‘God damn, why in the hell are bars in the capital so crowded? It’s still the same watered-down beer?’ “Un mrr gmm!!” {One more game!!} “For god’s sake, you have no shoes, you nearly bet our carriage and..” “Hyyy! Were…were my shoes?!” {Hey! Where are my shoes?!} “Oh, for-!” Kat wanted to curse; dealing with Breca’s moral high horse when she was sober was terrible enough; now she had to deal with her being her total opposite drunk? Arusei usually dealt with this stuff, not her, yet they couldn’t even report her absence in the knight’s station because seventy-two hours hadn’t passed yet. ‘Will it not be a recovery mission by then?’ A myriad of thoughts bombarded her brain, but she couldn’t focus because the mass she was dragging around started singing! They had completed their mission on time; collecting data about the ball from rumours, but Breca had been riding her so hard that she had had no choice but to encourage her to drink so that she mellowed out? The problem was she became more of a burden that way. * An hour passed after they reached the hotel room, and still no word from Arusei. “Can’t you at least let me sleep?” “No! We need to piece this together. According to the rumours, she left the ball before the first dance.” “Most of them think that…Gods in heaven! At least give me some soup, what the hell am I supposed to do with just water?” “Focus, Brecs!” “I can’t! My body is sluggish; you said one drink!” “You chose the fifty per cent concentrated mead!” “You let me!” “Now, now, let’s not get into who didn’t tell who what and when! We need to focus so that we can find the person who feeds us!” “Fine! The most recurrent rumour is the one about her being invited by the fourth prince so that he could assure her of his marital status, you know, because of the initial rumour that he rejected her back in the academy, which caused her to run away from home because of the severity of the heartbreak.” “What? Can’t people see that that makes no sense?! Why invite someone you rejected or who overreacted when they were rejected to your wedding?” “They don’t really know her, f**k, outside the both of us, I don’t know anyone who knows her. So clearing rumours like that is…fuck my head’s beginning to throb!” “Breca, focus!” “Fine! You never went to school with nobles, so you don’t get it. They value their names over their lives.” “Not Arusei.” “Not her, but the prince. Maybe he wanted to validify that he was the one who rejected her.” “Okay..so he must have done something to make her leave early?” “Bingo! Now the problem remains, where did she go.” “Laura, the barkeep’s friend, has a friend who works in the palace gardens. She said that Arusei was spotted with the first prince.” “The firs- ow!!” Breca rose to her feet a little too fast. “I’m going to throw up.” “Swallow it!” “Have you lost your mind?” “Doesn’t she hate the first prince?” “Oh…I’m going to be sick!” Breca slid off the bed then dashed to the bathroom. “For god’s sakes, Brec, this is a fancy hotel! No puking in a fancy hotel!” She yelled after her, but the door slammed shut before her message was acknowledged. ‘Of course, the first prince business is just a rumour.  It has to be, Arusei would never be caught dead with a monster like him.’ Despite the supreme power in the north belonging to the Sylra Elven family, the dragonkin, led tyrannically by that beast, were the most feared in the northern region. So, of course, she would not be with someone as ruthless as he. * * * Rheyes Kerhid Norvig Delectable… The countess tasted of bitter candy left in the cold for him to find. His tongue caressed her moist crevasse begging for full penetration as his fingers slid in and out of her with ease. He had upped the number to three, and though the countess had come twice now, her grip still tightened and twitched when he caressed some corners inside her. “I swear…ah!..” She cried out, then buried her bound hands in his hair, pushing his face to her womanhood until he was confident his only choice would be to breathe through her flesh. He didn’t mind it; she both smelled and tasted only of sweet amarena candy. He wrapped his lips on her sensitised bud, then used the hardness of his tongue to rub against her only, rather than allow him to engage the muscles of his neck; she gyrated her hips, using his tongue as a rubbing board. It was hard to tell who submitted to who, who bound who. “Eno- enough foreplay! Please!!” Her sweet voice cried as once again her muscles tensed under his touch. * Arusei Evergreen. *Ten minutes ago* “You told me you were a-” “Shh! If you intend to get me ready for you, then-!” I tried to steer the conversation but again he took the bull by the horns. “Why are you this tight?” “Kegels?” “Do not lie to me; you are almost like a virgin. None with your hobbies would be-” “Ah.. for f**k’s sake.” I pulled away from him then struggled off the couch to where my gown was. “Where the hell are you going?” “Your highness, this isn’t working. s*x is supposed to be fun, passionate and steamy, not clanky, mechanical and talky! I’m done.” “I want an explanation!” “Because it concerns you how? Who am I to you that the elasticity of my v****a is your concern?”
