“What?!” Alesta screamed. "You’re joking right?”
“You’re shouting, lower your voice. You know that I won't joke with something so serious.” Linda murmured.
“Ok…… so what was his reaction when he saw you?”
Linda sighed. “He acted like he didn’t know me, he was smiling all the time while talking to Liam but when it came to me, he was cold and aloof. I think that's how it is supposed to be between an employer and employee,” she shrugged.
When their food arrived, they started eating. “How is it going with managing the hospital?” Linda asked her voice laced with concern.
“Huh, it's so stressful, the patients and family are always coming with different problems but in all it's going okay.”
They kept on chatting even after they finished eating and the server came to clean up the table.
“David, it has been a while we’ve barely see you these days,” said Damon.
“There is a club that opened recently, will you be coming with us? Hey! What got you zoned out? Something interesting over there?” Gabriel asked when he noticed that Daniel's attention wasn’t on them.
David ignored him, his eyes fixed on someone across the restaurant, a look of intrigue on his face.
“Well yeah, more than interesting.” David smiled tilting his head to the girl's direction who was now laughing.
Gabriel and Damon looked at the girls and paused. Gabriel stared longer than usual with a grin on his face, then blurted out. “She looks ravishing.”
While Damon took his hands to his chest, his heart beating faster, his mouth widely open as he felt a rush of adrenaline. “I can’t believe I just set my eyes on a goddess. I’m going over there to talk to them, wish me luck—”
“Not if I get there first!” David responded.
They both turned to rush over to where the girls were seated only to notice they were no longer there.
’We will get to meet someday,’ David thought to himself.
Alesta drove Linda back home. When they arrived at Linda's place, she asked. “What time will you be leaving for work, so I can pick you up?”
“Not really sure when but I will try to be there early and there’s no need to come pick me up, you need to go to work early too.” Linda replied.
“Okay girl see you later goodnight.” Alesta said with a kiss to her cheek.
“Good night and go home straight.” Linda waved as Alesta drove out. She entered her house, took a bath then went straight to bed.
Back at Richard's mansion, he had just come out from his shower, heading to his wardrobe to choose some nightwear.
‘What a small world,’ Richard thought, ‘how could his one-night stand become his son's nanny?’
After he finished dressing up, he went to his home office intent on catching up on some work. However, when he sat down he found himself unable to focus.
His mind was elsewhere and despite his best efforts he just couldn't seem to clear the fog and get some work done.
He stood up strolling to Liam's room to see if he was asleep. When he got there, he saw Liam awake working on a puzzle.
“Buddy why are you still awake?” Richard asked, walking up to him. He sat down to play with Liam. “Can I ask you a question?”
Liam nodded, still trying to concentrate on his puzzle.
"Liam, what do you think of your new nanny? I heard and noticed you did not trouble her the way you did with the other nannies and that's shocking. So I decided to come and ask you. So…….. should we keep her or look for someone else?"
Liam looked up to Richard as if being possessed by something. “Dad, why are you asking? This is the first time you are even taking note of my nanny. Do you know her from somewhere?”
Richard looked at his son a little shocked seeing he had read his mind. “Why did you assume that I have to know her before I could ask about her? I just wanted to know if you like her enough for her to return tomorrow.”
Liam tapped his cheek while answering. “Well…. she is nice and good with math, so I think she can stay for now.”
“If you say so… why are you even awake? You know you have to be in school tomorrow right? Go lie down and sleep I will help clean this up.”
Liam just nodded and went to his bed as Richard tucked him in. Richard went back to clean it up the puzzle piece. When he was done he went over to Liam's bed. “Goodnight son.”
“Goodnight Dad and please turn off the light.”
“Ok,” Richard replied before switching off the light, leaving the room and closing the door.
Richard went back to his office not forgetting to grab an Italian sparkling wine. Inside his office, he poured himself a glass and sipped thinking of everything that had happened. Then decided to treat her as an employee, that is if she continues to do a good job of taking care of Liam. After that, he left his office to his room feeling relaxed.
The next morning the alarm began to ring as it reached 6 am. Immediately, Linda stood up and went to take her bath. She came out when she was done, dressed up then went to the kitchen to prepare something to eat.
After she finished eating, she gathered her things as she motivated herself. “You can do this Linda just act like he is not the guy you had a one-night stand with. Just ignore him and do what you are being employed to do.”
Back in Richard's mansion, “Is the nanny not here yet to care for Liam and dress him up for school?” Richard asked when he saw Liam eating at the dining table not yet dressed up for school.
Just then “Good morning sir,” Linda greeted while entering the house “Hello Liam how are you?”
“I'm fine,” Liam answered without looking at her.
Linda went straight to the room assigned to her while Richard went over to the dining room to eat. When Linda got to her room she quickly arranged her things before going over to Liam's room to check if his uniform was out and well ironed, his shoes and socks.
Then she went over to the kitchen to arrange his lunchbox with food, fruits and everything he would need.
When she was sure everything was complete she went to Liam. “Come get dressed it’s getting late.”
Richard stopped eating and answered. “Whose fault is that?”
“I'm sorry sir” Linda replied as she took Liam to his room to dress him up.
Liam looked at her coldly. “Why are you late? I can get you fired for that.”
