Chapter Nineteen That had been the plan. Kill them all. Blood pooled at our feet. The stink of death filled the air. Now that it was over, and the adrenaline was draining from my body, I felt numb. And strangely turned on. Which couldn’t be normal. “We should go.” The Beast pushed himself upright. Stretched his shoulders back. Thumped his chest. “Ah, that’s better.” I turned towards the door. Morag still knelt beside the heap of bodies, slowly wiping her knife again and again on Mike’s shirt. I held out a hand to help her to her feet. She didn’t respond. “Morag. Time we were somewhere else.” She stopped cleaning the blade. Folded it back into a closed position, using one hand. Opened it again. Appeared to be inspecting it for blood stains. “Come on. We can talk about this later.”
