Arielle I lost track of time. I didn’t know how long I had been unconscious or what had happened after everything went dark. None of us knew. We just……woke up. The first thing I felt was pain, a deep pain. The kind that lived in bones. My back throbbed relentlessly, every breath reminded me that something had gone terribly wrong. The smell of antiseptic filled my nose. Hospital. I opened my eyes slowly. White walls. Beeping machines. And beside me was another bed. Darius. His legs were elevated, wrapped thickly in bandages. His right arm was strapped and immobilized. A white cloth circled his head. He looked fragile in a way I had never seen before. My head was wrapped too, aching, but it was my back that hurt the most.
