Deer and Tiger are best friends ever. Never once Tiger’s fang reached Deer. On top of that, Tiger stood up for Deer from his starving comrade.
For his life, Dear treated Tiger as his brother. However, his frightened toward Tiger’s comrade never wore off. Mostsoever, for many chances Deer almost had being eaten due to Tiger’s loss to his herd. Tiger’s promise (to protect Deer) seems so unreal.
In the beautiful sunset, Deer silently brought Tiger into a riverside.
“Tiger my friend, promise me that from this day our meeting will happen at night,” Deer said.
In his mind, Deer was intending to keep their friendship without fear of death every day.
“Why, O Deer my friend?”
“If I have a chance, I decline to see you tried so hard to keep your unreal promise as always. Then, look at those loti.”
In the middle of the river, a flower bud opened its sheath under the moonlight.
“Each time the flower of a lotus blooming, here we shall meet.”
“As you asked, Deer.”
“Please bewatch. Don’t be late and aware of your surrounding. Nobody ought to follow you for coming here, my friend.”
“I promise, Deer.”
For a while, they were talking until the sun shines. At the same time the lotus flower shut-in, they came back to their lair.
Day by day those fellows keep their word meeting each other on the riverbank. Deer usually come early, whereas Tiger was always late.
Once in the evening, Tiger came terribly late. Without him knowing, since afternoon Tiger’s comrade has held him. When his sense came back to him, the sky darken already and forced him to run toward the riverside.
Unfortunately, Tiger too late. The things he could see only Deer’s remain. Side to side with the lotus flower.
“What happens so you do come so late, dear Tiger?” asked the old tree who lives for a hundred years not so far from the river.
They were never paid attention to their surrounding. Both Deer and Tiger weren’t realized for the old tree presence.
The old tree who always heard for their conversation looks so disappointed. “Let me make sure of it. Deer reminded you relentless that your herd looking for his life. He knew if you are late meaning his end.”
Tiger mourned Deer’s remain. Even his sorry and his pledge couldn’t bring back his friend.
