Daniel. Getting back from the retreat I went for, I decided to go to my company directly. My secretary and I have been communicating through emails and sometimes calls. Needing to see for myself if she was as great and professional as I have deduced through our messages, I went to the office. In the elevator, I was captivated by the beauty I ran into. Gathering the files for her, my eyes never left her face even as it was scrunched up in frustration. I didn't know who she was but I felt the strong urge to take her out on a date. I don't know if it was the blue eyes that captivated me or the blonde hair or the meek sound of her voice. All I know is that I was definitely awestruck by the lovely woman I met in the elevator. Imagine my surprise when she cut out on the top floor. Life has a way of throwing jabs at a person. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about. As someone who has constantly fought with life and come out on top, I can say it's not easy. Now, life is playing games with me. The woman I have decided, in the few minutes that I got to know her, that I am attracted to turns out to be the secretary working under me. She's professional, that much I can see. With the way she handled the situation of me going into my own office, although she didn't know that. Also, the way she neatly guided me to my seat to attend to me. While working on her computer too, she was holding conversation and didn't make me feel like I was being ignored. I noted in satisfaction at all the qualities I had ticked in my head. She's definitely more than what I thought she was. It only took a split second in my head to come to a conclusion on whether I was going to pursue her despite our work relationship, or whether I was going to leave her alone and introduce myself as a CEO. I decided to get to know her better. Women like this don't just drop into your life twice. “Forgive me if I'm intruding, princess but may I know your name?” With the way her eyes shot up from her computer screen, it was apparent that she doesn't get compliments like this often. Which flabbergasted me because she is a very pretty lady, so what was wrong with the men in her life? “Uhmmm…” She drawled as if contemplating. Suddenly her expression changed from a nervous and blushing lady to a more professional look, and she extended her hand to me and said, “Hi, my name is Mia Lawson, secretary to Daniel Travis. It's really nice to meet you, Mr…” “Daniel. Daniel Cobalt.” I changed my last name at the last minute and took her hands in mine as we shook. “So what brings you here, Mr Daniel?” She relaxed into her seat, interlocking her fingers as she placed them on the armrests. I was amazed at how fast she went from casual to professional and I ticked it along with the other things I find admirable about her in my head. “Nevermind princess. I was planning on talking to the CEO but it seems he hasn't gotten back from his retreat. I guess I'm just going to call him or text him from my phone.” “Alright sir. I hope I was of help to you.” She smiled at me, showcasing her dimples. I closed my eyes and ticked this one off in my head too. “You were of tremendous help, doll. If you don't mind, can I get your business card or something? Who knows, I might need to get in touch with you,” at this point, I was just fishing for a way to get her interested in me. “Oh sure. Definitely.” I watched as she rummaged through her bag and brought out a shiny pink business card. So girly, so her. I smiled at her as I made my way back to the elevator. Before the doors could close, I tipped my head down a little and said, “Until next time, princess.” Getting back home from the office I removed my clothes and went for a quick workout, trying to burn the image of Mia from my thoughts. It was not easy, as my mind kept replaying our short encounter. When I was done I picked up my work phone and went to my email to check. I had gotten several messages from Mia. Opening one of the messages that she titled: An appointment with Daniel Cobalt? There, she explained to me that a certain Daniel Cobalt came to the office asking for me. She said she had attended to him, but that he mentioned that he would be in touch with me over the phone. At this point, I smiled to myself. She was also efficient and although I liked beautiful women, I was more interested in their work life and their character. Suddenly getting an idea of a way to get closer to her without being stalkerish, I emailed her back as the CEO informing her that Daniel Cobalt was to resume as another secretary—more like an assistant secretary that would be supporting her in the office—and she was to put him through the workload that would be assigned to him. Her reply came almost immediately telling me she understood and she would get in touch with him. Pocketing my phone, I smiled. Come tomorrow morning and I would resume work as Mia Lawson's personal assistant. The thought made me excited and I couldn't wait for the next day to arrive. My phone choose that moment to ring and I picked it up. “Hey mum.” “Daniel, you got back from your retreat and you haven't come to visit me yet. I was just hearing from your father that you're back. How could you do that to me? Well, whatever your excuse is,I don't want to hear it. Come home now.” Without waiting for a reply, she hung up. It seems like I'm cursed to be bossed around by the women in my life. My mom had always bossed me around and tomorrow, a new different woman will start bossing me around too.
