CORRIGAN’S POV The rattling of the leaves growing louder in my direction startled me from the pained-filled nap I had taken. It was dark, and I wondered how deep in thought I must have wandered to have had me knocked unconscious for hours, and now in dread, reaching to defend my life. I reached for a stick on the ground, with the semblance of a club, and stood in readiness to attack, as the footsteps grew louder. I shut my eyes and took occasional deep breaths, taking shelter behind the tree, and taking peeks of my perceived attacker. “What are you doing here this late?” Alec showed up from behind me and tapped my shoulder.
