Annie followed David and Ada's car all the way until it finally stopped in front of a bar.
The lights inside the bar were dim and ambiguous, the crowd thick. The moment she stepped through the door, the two of them disappeared entirely into the sea of people.
David's phone remained off. She couldn't reach him, so she had no choice but to push through and search room by room.
Every time she opened the wrong door, she whispered an apology and quietly backed out.
Until the third room.
This time, the people inside blocked the entrance, cutting off her escape.
"Well, well, my turf. You think you can come and go as you please?" A seedy-looking man eyed her sideways, his gaze roaming over her rain-soaked clothes clinging to her body. "You ruined my good time. Don't you owe me something?"
