Something was off.
We had established that the prince of the Northern Kingdom was after Crista because she helped Bidaym, Marcian’s dragon, escape after he and his men shot it down and we had also established that he was the one responsible for the numerous traps we had encountered on paths on our way here because he had assumed that Crista was still somewhere in the forest but the one thing that I had found weird was that there were no guards. Crista had helped Bidaym escape three days ago and if he really wanted to catch her and make an example out of her like Marietta said, there should be guards patrolling the forest - even if they had already searched the entire forest - and stationed at the villages close to the forest.
Also, there should be no f*****g traps hidden in the sn
