MARIETTA
He resumed using his knuckles to caress my thighs again, moving upward till he got to the area between my legs and another moan slipped past my lips while he pushed the hem of my dress back to reveal my p***y. My face flushed instantly when he fixed his gaze there and I had the urge to cover myself up but I didn’t.
“Your Imperial Highness,” he said, keeping his eyes on my p***y, as my thighs tingled and heat pooled in my lower belly.
“Huh?”
“It’s not ‘My Lord’... It’s ‘Your Imperial Highness’.” His voice was husky as he stroked my c**t and I shivered. “... But you should call me my name when we’re alone.”
I was barely able to process what he was saying because of what he was doing and I nodded absentmindedly in response. His thumb suddenly delved deep, parting my p***y lips before sliding up to gently rub my c**t and I let out a small cry.
The flip-flop of my stomach was nothing compared to the throbbing at my core when he finally slid a finger into me and I moaned as I clenched around him. He thrusted gently, repeatedly and after a while, he added another finger. I gasped and jerked while he groaned.
He muttered something huskily under his breath as he slid his fingers in and out, slowly finding a rhythm, and my eyes closed with the pleasure boiling my blood.
“Don’t stop,” I gasped out, the throbbing growing intense deep inside, and I knew exactly where I needed him to be. I needed more of him.
He lifted his eyes to mine before his gaze fell lower and his tongue darted out to wet his lips as he stared at my breasts. Between his thumb on my c**t and the pulsing between my thighs growing faster with his increasing pace, I squeezed my eyes shut, delirious with craving. His fingers moved in a frenzy, and I sucked in breath after breath to keep up.
“I…” my voice was lost and I didn’t even know what I wanted to say. I just needed a few more seconds.
Oh, gods.
“You what?” he said. He sounded like he had been screaming at the top of his lungs for a long while and I grabbed his biceps, digging my fingernails into his flesh. My body began to spasm, and I held my breath waiting for it to come.
Shivers suddenly shot through my center and trailed through my belly and down my body, making me gasp. A wave of pleasure poured over my body like vibrations under my skin. I’ve never felt anything like this before.
And I wanted more of it.
Someone knocked on the door, shattering the moment, and I quickly covered myself with my gown before I removed my legs from Milan’s thighs. His eyes were hooded as he kept staring at me for a while and when I fully processed what we had just done, my face became hot.
Milan cleared his throat while pushing his chair back and he got to his feet. “Come in,” he called out and the door opened before two servant girls entered the room, bowing at him. One was carrying a tray of food which she dropped on the table in front of me and the other was carrying a bucket of water which she dropped next to another table that had a medium sized bowl and a clean cloth on it across the room.
“Those are for you,” he said as he gestured at what the servants dropped while they headed out of the room. “I have to, uh… attend to some matters,” he added and I raised my brows, wondering if he would take me with me.
He pressed his lips together, looking like he wanted to say something, and he cleared his throat again. “I’ll see you later,” he muttered and turned around, walking towards the door.
...Oh.
I fiddled with my fingers as I watched him go and when he stopped next to the door, I instantly perked up.
“I’ll be locking this,” he said as he knocked on the door. “... So you don’t run away.”
I hadn’t even thought of running away so I just gave him a nod before he walked out of the room, locking me in it.
------
It was already dark outside and the festival had finally ended but Milan wasn’t back yet. No one had come to the room too and it was either because they assumed no one was in it or Milan had told them to stay away from it because he didn’t want to risk coming back to an empty room.
It had been easy for me to find matches to light the candles in the candelabra that was on the table in the middle of the room after night fell but I didn’t snoop around even though I was really bored. I just stayed in my seat at the table, waiting for Milan to come back from wherever he went to and introduce me to the friends that ‘needed’ to meet me.
I hadn’t been able to stop thinking of what had happened between him and I before we were interrupted by the servant. I still couldn’t believe that it had happened because he was a prince and I was… well, I was me, a nobody. But I couldn’t stop myself from being attracted to him and from wanting what had happened to happen again.
Crista would probably smack me when I tell her about it after I go back home because I was having… a good time, while she was going crazy with worry. A small smile overtook my face as I pictured how relieved she would be when she finally sees me and I was looking forward to seeing her again.
Milan popped into my mind again and I shook my head sideways in an attempt to get him out. What happened between him and I doesn’t matter though because I would be going back home tomorrow and I wouldn’t see him again so it would be best to stop thinking about what else could happen between us.
I sighed as I looked around the room before letting my head loll back. Where is he and why isn’t he back yet?
The door’s lock suddenly turned, breaking the silence, and I immediately became upright in my seat before the door opened to reveal Milan standing in the hallway. He flashed me a charming smile and my mouth became dry when what happened between us popped into my mind for the nth time today.
I instantly reached for the cup of water on the table and drank all the water in it while Milan shut the door behind himself before walking over. Has he been thinking of what happened too?
“Sorry for leaving you alone for so long. I was having a conversation with my brother,” he stated as he walked past me to a wardrobe that was close to the window and opened it. The wardrobe was filled with different types of cloaks and long jackets and the amount of cloaks in there were definitely more than the clothes Crista and I had.
He grabbed a fur cloak and walked back to me before gently pulling me to my feet. “It’s time to meet my friends,” he said as he helped me put on the cloak and I raised my brows a little bit while my mouth formed an ‘o’ shape.
What are his friends like? And again, why does he want me to meet them?
He would give me the same vague answers he gave me in the afternoon if I asked those questions so I decided not to.
“Where are they?” I asked as he fastened the front of the cloak because we had to be going outside the palace since he was putting this on me. His hands brushed against my breasts when he was pulling them away and my breath hitched as a shiver ran down my spine.
“Somewhere outside the palace,” he replied with a smile playing on his lips and I realized that he had done that on purpose. "Let’s go now,” he added as he grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers before pulling me out of the room.
The hallway was illuminated by lit torches that hung from the wall and a couple of guards that were on patrol marched down it. Awe washed over their faces when they saw me and they quickly bowed at Milan as we walked past them.
“My siblings want to meet you,” Milan said as we made our way down a flight of stairs and he grabbed a lit torch from the wall.
“Are they the ones we are going to meet right now?”
“Oh, no. We’ll meet them after the… two we’re going to meet right now?”
I pursed my lips. “Do these two have a name at least?” I asked but he didn’t reply and I clicked my tongue as he led me into a hallway.
“... Amie and Givny,” he finally said when a gate that led out of the palace was in sight and I glanced at him.
“Women?” I had thought I would be meeting men when he said he would be introducing me to some of his friends.
“... Females,” he replied and I furrowed my brows because who the hell referred to women as females nowadays. Two of the guards standing next to the gate pulled them open and they all bowed as we got to them before we stepped out of the palace.
There were also guards on patrol in the grassy courtyard and I quickly pulled the cloak closer because of the chilly air. I pulled the hood of the cloak over my head as Milan began to lead us away from the patrolled area and to an area that was much more quiet.
“I- Where exactly are these two people?” I asked when we kept walking towards a place that was colder than the courtyard and had no lit torches hanging from the wall. There were fewer guards on patrol here and I could see a structure that looked like a pyramid a couple of metres ahead.
“We’re almost there.”
“Almost where?”
Milan pulled me closer to him while the guards bowed at him. “Where we are going to,” he replied and I frowned when he kept on leading me towards the pyramid.
“They’re in the pyramid?”
“Shhhh.”
My lips parted slightly as I stared at him. Did he just shush me? What the hell is he hiding?
We finally got to the pyramid and my brows snapped together when I saw that it’s interior was really dark. “What the hell?” I muttered before I noticed that the guards around us had curious looks on their faces as they watched us. “They’re in there? Why are they sitting in the dark?” I asked with wide eyes and Milan pressed his lips together as he glanced at me.
He gently pulled my hand and I resisted because something shady was definitely going on here but after I remembered that he said no one would kill me, I let him pull me. I trusted him... I don’t know why I did, I just did.
The torch Milan was holding only let us see a couple of feet in front of us so I stayed really close to him. I held his free hand with both of my own, hugging his arm to my chest, and a smile crept onto my face because he was really warm.
Imagine the things he could do to you with those hands...
I quickly shook my head sideways to get that thought out of my head and Milan glanced at me, giving me a weird look. I wasn’t able to get it out of my head though and honestly, I wanted- I really, really wanted him to put those hands on me again.
A low growl somewhere ahead was what finally snapped me out of my thoughts and my head jerked up before I realized that Milan was no longer next to me. What the hell? I turned my head around and saw him standing a couple of feet behind me. When did I let go of him?
The sound of chains rattling drew my attention back to the darkness ahead of me and I took a step back as my blood ran cold. What’s in the darkness? ...Where the hell did Milan bring me to? There were a couple of medium-sized holes in the wall through which a little bit of moonlight seeped into the pyramid but it wasn’t enough to completely ward off the darkness so I had no idea what was either a couple of steps or a couple of metres in front of me.
“Milan…” I called out just before the air in front of me was suddenly ignited, making me stumble back and fall to the ground. A dragon!
The enormous beast stepped into the light coming from the holes in the wall and my eyes were wide with horror as flames spewed from its huge mouth for two seconds before it abruptly stopped. I couldn’t move, I was frozen to the spot as my mind was transported back to when I thought I was going to die in the arena.
Oh, no, no, no.
The dragon suddenly leaned closer to me and I whimpered as I felt a puff of hot breath on my face while the beast peered at me curiously like it was trying to figure me out. I wanted to shuffle away from it but I was scared that sudden movement would make it attack me even though it didn’t seem like it was going to do so any moment from now.
I expected to hear footsteps coming towards me from behind but I didn’t and I realized that these were the two friends Milan wanted me to meet… the two females. That bastard!
A different growl drew my attention to the left and I saw another dragon slowly stepping out of the darkness, also peering at me curiously. I wanted to turn around to see if Milan had left me here but I didn’t want to take my attention off the two dragons.
The dragon that was close to me gently nudged my arm with its head and I instantly jolted while it let out what sounded like a playful growl as the other dragon came closer to me. It was quite obvious that they weren’t going to attack me but I was still on edge because I didn’t know what was running through their minds.
I finally heard Milan’s footsteps coming towards me just as the two dragons lay on the ground right in front of me and I slowly shuffled backwards. Milan walked past me after a couple of seconds and I rose from the ground with shaky legs when he stopped in front of the dragons.
I kept on moving backwards while he placed his free hand on one dragon’s head and gently patted its scales as the beasts let out growls that didn’t sound threatening before Milan turned to face me.
“I’ve seen what I wanted to see now,” he said as he walked over to me, grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the exit while the dragons growled behind us. It took us a short while to finally get out of the pyramid and I yanked my hand out of his as I took in a deep breath.
This was what he meant when he said that he wanted to test something. What if the dragons had killed me?!
“You’re a mad man,” I said while shaking my head sideways and became even more angry when a corner of his mouth curved up. I wanted to punch him in his stupid, beautiful face but I knew that would hurt me more than it would hurt him so I kept my hands to my sides.
“Sorry about that… I just wanted to find out if what had happened in the arena was a one-time thing,” he replied and I gritted my teeth. “Now that I know it’s not, I’m afraid I can’t let you go back home.”
It took me a couple of seconds to process what he said and my eyes widened in shock. “What?!”
He gestured at the pyramid, “Those dragons have been locked up for a year because they’re really aggressive and out-of-control. They’ve killed people that have come too close to them…” he trailed off and gave me a once over. “I don’t know what makes the dragons behave like that in your presence but what I do know is that you’re valuable and I can’t let you go back to The Northern Kingdom.”
I immediately grabbed his hand and he raised his brows. “No, no, no, I have to go back home. I can’t leave Crista alone.”
“I’ve told some men to go get her in the morning. She’ll stay with you here.”
