“I’ll be right back, Marietta,” I said and Marietta nodded. I then placed a kiss on her cheek before pulling Mercer with me as I walked away so Marietta could have some time alone with her friend.
“What the hell?” Mercer muttered and tried to pull his hand out of mine but I tightened my hold on it. “Let go of me, Milan,” he added but I ignored him and kept moving through the people that were in the physician’s workplace. “... For f**k’s sake. Okay, where are you taking me?”
“To talk to father and to tell Elmeric to check up on Crista.”
“Oh… Okay,” he replied and the corners of my mouth quirked up because I knew he was only interested in the second part of that statement. It was a nice thing to see though… Mercer getting along with someone that wasn’t Ragnar. Someone he liked… Som
