Aldren
I nod at the people greeting me as we enter our office building. We enter our private elevator, which takes us directly to our floor.
I own this building, as well as many others in the city. We are into Construction, Manufacturing, Technology, Education and Hospitality business. Our clients are mostly humans, all trustworthy. They have been the front face for generations taking care and maintaining our businesses. They know who we are and also what we can do. There is a peace treaty signed between humans and us but not everybody knows of our existence. Not a growl, no Alpha in front of them. We have maintained it that way. For them, we are just like them.
I take off my coat and before I hang it myself, Stacy takes it from my hand and hangs it on her arm. I behave as if it's normal as I take my seat.
"Get me a strong black coffee", I say, opening the file that is in front of me. She nods. "Add a few croissants, muffins, cookies and all the available munchkins and 5 more coffees to that", adds Ethan in a lazy tone. She glares at him and scurries away when he winks at her.
Stacy is hot, but I couldn't go beyond a kiss. She tried to seduce me before and still tries, but I have made it clear to her long back that we can't be anything beyond a boss and secretary.
I could have f***** her, she was an easy lay. But, I don't want to see her again if I go with it and with Stacy it was not possible. She knew everything about the company and our organisation. She is a good resource, taking care of everything I need. I didn't want to lose her.
If my family gets to know about this, they will make me sleep with Stacy too. Yeah, that's crazy, I know. I don't know if she is my mate. That's the risk I have taken. As usual, I don't feel anything towards her. The point is, I don't feel anything towards anybody.
The first meeting goes quickly with my legal team. Following that I had a couple of meetings with the clients. I was finalising a deal with one of the clients, which got cancelled due to his wife's sudden illness.
As lunchtime rolled off, we headed to our regular restaurant and ordered our food. Ethan, Derek and Blake started picking up on the girls, checking them out and discussing whether their p*****s are tight or not. They are just having fun. Boys! He is good if he doesn't come to me to ask such questions. I used to enjoy such filthy talk once, but not anymore. So they talk in hushed voices as if I can't hear. I roll my eyes at them. Reid, Jackson and Brandon are quite older than I, and they try not to indulge in such discussions. They have been with me since I turned 18. Blake and Sam are my buddies from school. Derek joined our team recently. Ethan is my junior and the youngest of all.
"Do you know that blonde who is standing beside another blonde and a brunette?" asks Blake. I had already finished my food with Blake and Reid. Ethan, Jackson and Brandon were still having their food.
I roll my eyes at him and lazily drag them to the three giggling girls sitting at a table not far from us. All their eyes were flirty and their lips inviting. But I look away from them, and my eyes land on a woman whose back is to me. I can hear her bickering with the cashier about the package. Her heartbeat is racing gradually. I observed her; she was around 5'5 tall, had a small waist, and a slender figure. She was wearing a light pink blouse and a dark grey skirt. Her golden brown hair was tied up in a pony, a few tendrils falling out of it, grazing her exposed shoulder. Her skin looked smooth untouched by the Sun or any hungry animal like me. I gulped at the thought. She had smooth creamy legs. I dragged my eyes slowly up to her shoulder again. That neck! I was about to lick my lips when a voice interrupted my sinful thoughts.
"She is looking at you as if she will eat you whole," Ethan says distracting me. I turn to look at him. I felt I was in a haze, that's funny. I was never a neck guy. There is much skin to knead, lick and bite. " I am not interested," I say.
"What are you thinking, Aldren?" asks Jackson after his food. I was thinking about that neck, how I am going to savour it. Forget it. I have many things to worry about. He burps loudly, "Sorry, your Ma.." I gaze at him and he stops mid-sentence. I had asked them to drop the formalities long back.
"I don't know what Lucas comes up with," I say, rubbing the skin between my eyes. I happen to have developed a headache lately.
"Don't worry about that, we are working on something," says Brandon.
"You better be," I say with an undertone. They both look at each other.
I stand up and they all follow me as Ethan pays off. For some reason, I turned around to see the lady who was bickering with the cashier, but she was gone. I felt the need to look for her. 'What the hell is wrong with me?' I never felt like this before; it was always as if they looked for me, not the other way round.
Back at the office, a team of doctors were waiting for me with the necessary equipment. They introduced themselves and started with the tests. I agreed to this only because of Reid. He was quiet as usual. He is a good observer and makes comments when necessary. He freely talks only to me. By the time tests were done, it was 5.
"Meeting 'The Heir' is at 6," reminded Blake unnecessarily. My Jaw ticked and I clenched my fist." Osc was asking for the release, but this was not the time nor the place. Whether I like it or not, I must be there on time, so I asked Blake to drive us.
