The steps above the church were empty, the soldiers were either in bed or in bars. There were no lights on inside the basement church. Darcy would be there, though; he had nowhere else to go. The door was locked. Charlie thought about picking it and changed his mind. There was no point antagonising the old priest if he didn"t have to. Instead he banged on the door until he heard movement inside. There was only an oil lamp lit when Darcy let him in.
