Chapter 15

1652 Words
Matilda “Let Penelope know she is to join us for vespers…” “Penelope has gone to Oakridge, Sister Matilda,” Miriam cut me off. I smiled, trying not to show how pissed I was, “of course! Where's my head at?” “Perhaps in Oakridge?” Miriam muttered but I heard her. I took a step towards her and eyed her fiercely, “what did you say?” “Whatever it is you heard,” came her response, then in a low tone she said, “do not think that I am blind. I can see the way you look at Miguel every time he's here.” I was shocked. Because I knew I hid my desires well. “You're spouting rubbish,” I told her, “and if I ever hear stupid rumours about me, I'll come for your ass.” Miriam's lips stretched with a smile. “I guess you are not bothering to hide your true colours anymore, eh? You are not different from Penelope. You two think you're better than everyone in this place,” she sneered at me. “What is happening here?” the scratchy old voice of Mother Superior resonated through the empty hallway. I backed away from Miriam and with an innocent smile on my face, I turned to look at Mother Superior. “We were discussing Penelope's duties,” I replied, “I was just asking Sister Miriam how we shall go about reassigning Penelope's duties.” Mother Superior humphed like she did not believe a word I had just said. “You do not have to worry about her duties,” Mother Superior said, “I have already assigned them. And speaking of Penelope, she forgot to take her rosary with her to Oakridge.” I stepped forward immediately. “I can give it to her,” I said, “it is such an important part of her faith. She must miss it already.” Mother Superior sighed, “she can just get a new one there.” “Actually,” I stopped her because this was my only chance, “Father Jerome mentioned he would be taking a trip to Oakridge tonight. I can follow him and deliver the rosary to Penelope.” “Father Jerome can just take it to her,” said Mother Superior, “there's no need for you to…” I cleared my throat, “I… Mother Agnes, there is another reason I must visit Oakridge.” Miriam scoffed beside me but I ignored her. Mother Superior looked at me, waiting for what I had to say. “I have a cousin in Oakridge who is very sick,” I dropped the pitch of my voice so I could sound more pitiable, “she has been diagnosed with cancer and I fear that her end is rather near. I pray for her everyday but…” a sob escaped my throat as I got into character. I heard Mother Superior sigh. “Fine,” she said the word I was waiting to hear, “but you must return immediately or we shall be short staffed here.” “I understand, Mother Agnes,” I bowed slightly in reverence, “I shall return immediately.” “Prepare for vespers, both of you,” said Mother Superior, “I believe Father Jerome leaves after that.” I watched Mother Superior's back as she disappeared down the winding hallway. As her figure faded away from sight, I heaved a sigh of relief. “You're a really good liar,” Miriam sneered, “the devil must be shocked you have mastered his trade so well.” I wanted to scratch her face. “I wonder if it's because you're jealous,” I hissed, “that no one wants you.” Miriam hissed, “your mind is full of carnal thoughts. You do not deserve to be a nun.” She walked away after that but stopped suddenly to get one more jibe in, “I am going to tell Mother Superior about your shenanigans.” Then she was gone. I was not scared of Miriam or her threat. I was not scared of any of the women here who paraded themselves as nuns. I knew most of them were liars. They were only here because they were running away from something on the outside. Our dear reverend Miriam for instance was once upon a time a hooker who stabbed one of her sugar daddies to death. She was wanted in Mexico and she had fled to America and was now hiding in the convent. A smile crossed my lips. I could not wait for the day I would reveal the truth about her to the cops. I would love to see the shocked expression on Mother Superior's face when Miriam was escorted out of the convent in handcuffs. A time would come for that. For now, my focus was on Miguel and I hated the fact that Penelope had come to steal my game. Just when I had been making progress, she had shown up out of the blue and stolen my thunder. But I was not going to give up so easily because Miguel Ramirez was mine for the taking. I walked to the chapel, greeting other sisters I met along the way. Once there, I walked to the altar to assist the sacristan to prepare the altar for the evening mass. But I was blocked by Miriam who stood in my way. “Mother Superior has asked that you welcome parishioners as they come in,” she ordered. I felt insulted, “that's the job of…” “...of Penelope. I know.” I smiled without a word, reveling in the secret I had discovered about her. I would use it to blackmail her some day but today was not that day. As I walked to the large entrance of the chapel, I stumbled into Father Jerome. He was a tall man with stunning blue eyes and dark hair. “Father Jerome,” I blushed easily. He was young too. “Sister Miriam,” he bowed his head slightly towards me. I did the same, “Mother Superior tells me you will be following me to Oakridge tonight?” I smiled. “Yes,” I said simply, “I must give Sister Penelope her rosary.” “You are very kind, sister.” Evening mass started or more accurately the vespers began. I sat in my designated seat on the Pew and put on a sombre expression that matched with the quiet atmosphere. I followed the service like a ritual because it was really what it was. That was why it was so easy to fake it here. You just had to do everything that was expected of you, follow the procession to a tee like a sacred ritual and no one would ever guess if your heart is right. As parishioners filtered out of the church and I waved them goodbye, enjoining them to come again tomorrow, Father Jerome appeared before my face. I smiled, tucking a stray hair behind my ear. “It was a wonderful service, Father Jerome,” I commended the young priest. He smiled lazily and said, “thank you.” I looked into his blue eyes and wondered just how holy he really was. Was he here hiding too? Or did he have a heart like mine and was hiding behind the rituals? I hoped it was the latter or his good looks would really be a waste. While I tried getting Miguel, it would not be such a bad idea to ride a priest. A felt a tingle between my legs. It had been so long since I had any action besides my tucked away dildo and it was killing me. “I will leave in an hour,” Father Jerome said, “my car will be parked outside.” I thanked him while fantasising about him taking me in his priestly robes. How sinful would that be? An hour later, I was seated beside him in his car. “Are we driving to Oakridge?” I asked him. I knew Oakridge was far from New York. “Only to the airport,” he said, “Miguel was generous enough to send us his private jet.” I was grateful for the dark that hid the blush that crept to my cheeks. Miguel Ramirez was rich and powerful. He was incredibly sexy and handsome and much older. He was exactly the type of man that could satisfy me in every possible way and one day, one day, he would be mine. One day, he would beg me to abandon my eternal marriage to Jesus and be married to him instead. “You have a beautiful smile, sister,” Father Jerome's voice brought me out of my reverie. I looked at him a little surprised. “Are you allowed to notice such things?” I teased him slightly. He chuckled nervously and looked at me, “Of course. I must give credence to God for blessing the world with his beautiful creations.” His words brought warmth to my core. Was he giving me the greenlight now? I cleared my throat. “Are you saying I am one of God's beautiful creations, father?” I asked him. “You most certainly are,” came his response, “why did you decide to become a nun?” The question threw me off my game. Perhaps I had been wrong about Father Jerome? “Why do you ask, Father?” I asked him. “We're here,” he announced, killing the engine. I sighed deeply, trying in the process to suppress my arousal. It was a good thing we were going to Oakridge. There, I could be a little freer and do something about getting some real action. Hopefully, it was with Miguel.
