Miguel
She was surprised, I could tell by the way she looked around like this was all foreign to her. She had expected some rundown clinic with no amenities but I had managed to stun her with a functional hospital.
I walked through long hallways, avoiding the nurses that swarmed past with their carts.
When we got to the very end of it, I stopped in front of an oak door. As I placed my hand on the knob to open it, she placed her hand over mine. I looked at her, wondering if she knew how scintillating that touch had to be for me.
A naughty smile crossed my lips.
She had not always been a nun. She had lived a rather dangerous life before all this so of course my little shell was teasing me and I had to say that she was enjoying it very much.
“What? Think we're going to do naughty things behind that door?” I teased her.
She slapped my hand but I did not miss the blush that painted her face a hot red. The sting of her slap did not go away immediately but the pain was welcome. Any touch from her was always welcome.
She cleared her throat and took a step back from me.
“I think you need God,” she muttered more to herself than to me.
“This place…” she said quickly, looking down the spiralling hallway, “you don't need me here.”
I raised an eyebrow as my lips stretched into a smirk, “and how is that for you to judge?”
“I'm not stupid,” she folded her arms. Her red face looked crossed towards me.
“I did not mean it…”
“Why am I really here Miguel?” she demanded from me.
“I…” I was usually confident when speaking but suddenly I lost my voice and was stomped for words.
“To help out of course,” I said eventually.
“Exactly! You do not need my help. You have a functional hospital here,” she argued, “if Mother Superior knew…”
I took two step towards her and caught her gasp at the sudden motion, “Sister Penelope, are you suggesting I brought you all the way to Oakridge for anything other than helping out in a short staffed clinic?”
“I'm not…” it was her turn to become tongue-tied.
I lowered my head and brought it beside her ear, lowering my voice also so the moment felt intimate, “because Shell, your imagination may be right.”
She pushed me away suddenly like hot water had poured on her feet.
“You…” her face was tomato, “stay away from me.”
“Do I tempt you sister?” I asked her, thoroughly enjoying every bit of flustering her.
“God will judge you,” she said to me, “He will…”
“I do not doubt that He will,” I said, “but he will also judge those naughty thoughts you've filled your head with.”
“Stop saying nonsense!”
“Am I wrong?” I c****d my head to the side as I looked at her beautiful face, “even now, I can smell your arousal.”
I opened the door, hastening my steps as I walked into the small corner office I had made available to Penelope.
She followed behind me, carefully keeping enough space between us. I saw her eyes sweep the room. Clearly, this was a step up from the convent.
“This will be your office while you're here,” my tone was serious now although my intense gaze never left her, “you'll be coordinating donations that come in for the children.”
“I don't…”
I placed a finger on my lips to shush her.
“I know you have a degree in finance,” I said to her, “so put it to good use while you're here.”
“You did a background check on me?” she asked.
“And you stalked my footprint on social media,” I accused her back, “it seems fair, does it not?”
She said nothing.
“You'll see to donations in the morning,” I said to her, “and then the rest of the day, you'll spend assisting the nurses either in the pediatric ward or the geriatric ward.”
“Any questions?” I asked her.
“First, I'm not a baby!” she was not telling but her tone was pitches away from doing so, “you do not shush me like a child.”
How cute!
She was twenty three. If I had knocked up a girl in my twenties, I would have a daughter her age.
I smiled at her, “noted, Sister Penelope.”
I saw her burl up her fists beside her. I knew that she hated I was calling her sister but I could not help that I loved seeing her all riled up and flustered.
“Is there more?” I asked her.
“Stop trying to seduce me,” she mouthed.
“What?”
“You heard me.”
I shook my head, “I don't think so.”
“Stop trying to seduce me,” she said again.
I looked at her for several minutes, none of us said a word but a lot passed between us as we held off a staring contest. In her eyes, I could see she was fighting off her desire. She was burning for me and doubting the path of chastity she was about to walk on.
“If that is what you want,” I said to her, keeping my tone cool.
A frown crossed her face, revealing she had been expecting more of a push back from me. But I was the master of this little game we were playing and I knew exactly how to make her come begging on her knees for my touch.
“Any other requests, sister?” I asked her.
She cleared her throat.
“No,” came her response.
“I'll be taking my leave then,” I said, “I'll see you at lunch except you believe having lunch is another form of sin.”
I winked at her before leaving the office.
As I walked through the hallway, I was painfully aware of the bulge in my trousers. Penelope had that effect on me. Merely thinking about her was enough to give me a hard-on.
Why the f**k did she have to decide to become a f*****g nun?
“Someone's thirsty,” I walked into my office to see Ashley seated on my chair, her eyes on my junk.
I rolled my eyes.
“Stop being a creep, dear friend,” I said, walking towards my chair, motioning with my fingers that she stand up.
“I could give you a blowjob,” she suggested so casually one would think she was offering to make me coffee or take out the trash.
“Ewww!” I drawled.
She stood up and punched my arm playfully.
“We're friends,” she said, “I was only trying to help you out with that tent you've got between your legs.”
That did it.
I went limp like someone had poked a balloon with a needle.
“You've helped enough already,” I told her, “what are you doing here, anyway?”
“That hurts,” she said, “can't I say hello to my best friend?”
I rolled my eyes again.
“We said hello earlier when you were all touchy with me.”
She shrugged with a smile on her face. She knew exactly what she had been doing earlier.
“I just wanted to help keep things interesting between you and yours,” she teased me lightly.
“I didn't ask for your help,” I said to her.
“But you did not refuse it either,” she winked at me.
It had been nice watching Penelope get flustered. She loved to pretend like she did not care but every time a woman was in my orbit she looked like she wanted to gouge their eyes out.
“I guess it's because I missed you,” I said, pulling her cheek playfully.
“On a serious note, Miguel,” she said, “you just left. Like no warning or shit.”
“I had something to take care of,” I said in a bored tone.
She raised her eyebrows.
“Something to take care of? What?”
“I don't owe you an explanation for the things I do,” I was being evasive and I knew it would not fly with Ashley. She was not the type to ever back down.
“Just stuff,” I said.
Before she could whine about how I was always quick to shut her down, I asked her, “How's Simone?”
“You're trying to change the subject,” she hissed.
“How can you accuse me of such?” I pretended to be horrified at the accusation.
“You went to Turkey, Miguel,” she said, “and I had to hear it from Damien. Damien! Do you know how that makes me feel?”
I sighed.
“Have you considered your lovers might all be leaving you because you're too clingy?” I blurted the words without thinking and regretted them the very second they came out of my mouth.
“Really?” she had that dead cold look in her eyes that gave me chills.
“Ashley…” I said softly but she had stormed out of my office.
I plopped down on my chair and sighed. Ashley was not someone I wanted to be on her bad side. As I racked my brain for an apology, someone walked into my office.
The first thing that hit my nose was the smell of cinnamon.
I looked up but the person standing in my office was not Penelope.
