Into the Darkness

The sorceress and I plunge deeper and deeper into the woods. The only sound piercing the night air is our feet as they crunch across the dried leaves and twigs below. We try to walk as quietly as possible, but each step is like a beacon to our location. At least we should be able to hear any enemies approaching, right?  We continue our journey into the darkness, but I still can’t shake the feeling that we are being watched. There’s something lurking in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to pounce... and it's got my entire body on high alert. I almost want to turn back, but the hairbrush pulls Drusilla’s hand along, guiding us through the abyss… toward our mortal enemy.  Why is it so quiet in here? Too quiet. No animals scurrying about, no owls hooting, not even a single bug buzzi
