Isaac? Yeah wait until I see him.
Headbutt him again? Yeah.
Kill him? Yeah.
Drag all his hair and make him bald? Of course.
Maybe cause his hair looked all soft and fluffy... but that wasn't the point right now.
The deal was this; I was going to see him, and I was going to kill him.
Why? Because this dude was f*****g annoying.
After the incident with him at the staffroom on Tuesday, I had planned to keep my cool the next day and then apologize. Because one, he was obviously my senior; two, I had been rude in certain ways.. you know the jamming of my head into his face; three, I was wrong leaving him all alone while he was bleeding.
But then, he didn't show up.
Chike - Isaac Wesley didn't f*****g show up
Doing the sign of the cross and begging the almighty for forgiveness of cursing right now.
Isaac didn't come the next day to the staffroom. Infact I didn't see him around school at all and was tempted to even ask Nathan about him, you know.. incase something serious had happened to him. I was worried and felt bad that I cleaned the whole staffroom myself and even covered up for him when Mr Eze stopped by the staffroom.
Later on, I heard that him and Nathan had gone for a party and that's why he didn't show up.
I got furious thinking of how worried I was and how I'd cleaned the WHOLE staffroom myself just because I felt so bad about what I did to him.
I didn't even tell my friends anything that had happened when they asked why I left early on that day. I had just told them that something urgent came up with my mum and as a result I had to go.
But in conclusion, Isaac was going be toast when I saw him.
Right now, I had just gotten out of class after Geography period was over, bunking the next period which was Maths class just like I did every other Thursday. Maths was really not my thing and well, what was the point of sitting back in a class where I wouldn't understand anything when I could just skip it and do something worthwhile and of course still keeping my eyes out for Isaac.
I walked towards the science lab building, a building which was just a few blocks away from my class and of course was white and ash coloured just like other buildings. The environment was almost empty as the majority were still in class starting the next period while the only set of people I could see around were those probably coming back from the staffrooms or who had gone to the library and was on their way back.
The chemistry labs, physics lab and their storages were located at the down floor while the biology labs and its storage was on the top floor. I climbed the stairs and headed to the biology lab which was my favourite place to stay.
Pushing the door open, I poked my head inside to check if my favourite teacher was in there. The familiar faint smell of chemicals used to preserve the specimen used for praticals filled my nostrils. The smell wasn't foul or pleasing, it was just... there.
Seeing that she was, I walked inside towards where she sat.
She had books open in front of her with air pods in her ear while her phone was in her hands. She hadn't even noticed me yet and I was sure her full concentration on her phone.
"Miss Holly!" I shouted knocking lightly on the table beside her with the wildest grin on my face.
She jerked up eyes wide open, her hazel eyes staring back at me while her hair which was packed in a ponytail bounced backwards.
Seeing it was me, she sighed loudly, a wide grin appearing on her face also.
"It's just you Adah," She said removing her airpods. "You scared the s**t out of me,"
I laughed dragging a seat from beside me and settling down in front of her, dropping my drawing books and pencil case I'd come with. "You were into your phone so much that you didn't notice when I walked in."
She shrugged dropping her phone and closing the books in front of her. "I swear I'm so tired. I was taking a break. How are you love?"
"Myself ? I'm on two threads from losing my mind plus I have punishment everyday at the staffroom with an SS2 guy." I told her sighing.
"Awnn, look at my lil girl being all stressed up. That's sad. I should buy you ice cream tomorrow. Will that help?" She asked as she tilted her head to a side.
I nodded giving her a cheeky smile. "Thank you. Now rush to your class before you go late."
"Oh s**t!" She exclaimed as she checked her time and then started heaping her books in her arms, placing one on top of the other.
"Don't forget your phone also," I told her as I dropped her phone on the heap of books.
She sighed again. "Thanks a bunch."
She scurried her way out of the lab leaving the door open and after a few seconds, her head poked inside again. "My bag is still in there, take care of the lab and see ya later!"
I waved my hand in the air. "Don't worry about it, see you later."
With that she shut the door and left.
I changed my seat to the one Holly was previously seated in so as to sit facing the whole lab and watching everything incase someone walked in.
Holly was an American, probably in her late twenties who had finished College, did her masters and then had to come here because of her Family. We became friends after she had asked me for directions to the cafeteria when she just came newly. Then I started officially bunking maths class and found a nice quiet place to spend time in - the biology lab plus a gisting partner - Holly.
Level hundred happiness.
I opened to a fresh page on my drawing book and took out my coloured pencils from the pencil case. I then opened my phone to the picture I had carefully picked out and saved a night before strictly to draw this day.
Taking a huge breath, I started sketching on my drawing book.
After some few minutes, I heard the door open again and a split second passed, then sluggish footsteps followed.
"Miss Holly isn't around, please come back later." I announced, my eyes still focused on what I was doing and not glancing up even once.
The footsteps didn't stop as expected and instead they sounded like they were coming towards where I was.
Finally, I looked up to see who it was, iriitation building up because whoever it was, was interfering with my peaceful time.
Lo and behold, the person I had been looking for was right in front of me.
Isaac.
He strutted sluggishly, his hands in his pockets as usual, unbuttoned shirt and rolled up sleeves. His eyes fixated directly on me and his expression?.. Well indifferent.
"Isaac! Where have you been since Tuesday?!" I shouted standing up and folding my arms, waiting patiently to unleash all the anger I had pent up inside me. "You didn't come yesterday and I had to do the whole staffroom myself!!" I said again glaring at him.
He stopped infront of me, his cologne filling my nostrils once again. He studied me for a bit before his eyes fell to the top of the table which separated the two of us.
"So that's what you're always doing," he said in a low tone as he nodded. "Nice."
I looked down to the table, realising that he was talking about my drawing,, I quickly closed the book and double tapped my phone turning it off. No way I was going to allow someone else see what I drew, as nice as it looked, it was still embarrassing for some reason.
I saw the side of his lips turn up in a smirk while he sat down infront of me.
Smirking? Isaac smirked??
"No one is allowed in here by-the-way, since Miss Holly isn't around." I told him as I watched him bring his legs to the top of the table beside my book, crossing one on top of the other revealing his spotless white socks he wore inside his Nike shoes.
He leaned backwards into the seat making himself comfortable and placed his arms behind his head resting it, just like he did at the staffroom. His 'king-like' form which I was guessing was his favourite way of sitting came into view.
"I was expecting a 'sorry' as you ran away leaving me to die on Tuesday," Isaac said looking at me now.
Die? What did he mean by die. He was clearly breathing when I left him. He just had a few drops of blood here and there but he was clearly alright. I think..
I cleared my throat awkwardly as I averted my eyes elsewhere avoiding his eyes. "I was going to do so yesterday but you didn't show up." I defended.
"Well, I'm here now."
"I already did the whole staffroom as an apology to you while you partied." I said again looking at him this time.
He tilted his head to a side and raised an eyebrow at me. "Partied?"
"Yeah. Isn't that why you didn't show up yesterday?" I asked giving him a "I know the reason, you don't have to be surprised" look.
He opened his mouth to say something but paused instead. Then after some seconds passed by, he spoke again. "Anyways, I'm an exception in here, I'm allowed whenever."
I scoffed at him changing the topic and just let it slid. All the pent up anger I had dripping away. What was the use? I could just get back at him by not showing up also. And doing it on an unexpected day even. Instead of standing here shouting at him while he had a comeback for everything I said. Moreover, now was my 'me time' and I wasn't going to let anyone ruin it.
"Yeah right, Mr Isaac owns the school," I replied sarcastically rolling my eyes, sitting down again and pulling my book and phone away from beside his legs.
He didn't utter any other word as he just sat watching my every movement.
I turned on my phone and began using it awkwardly, the silence in the room taking over. I didn't say anything else to him and neither did he.
I could feel his eyes on me, and I wasn't going to lie, it was making me nervous. Me and Isaac alone, again. This time, he wasn't even far away from me with his eyes closed. He was right in front of me, close enough to see my phone getting slippery in my hands from it being sweaty.
Why was he even here to begin with. Did he know I was going to be in here? Had he seen me walking in? And even if he had, why was he still here, sitting in front of me and staring?
Be calm Adah, be calm.
I dragged my eyes up in an attempt to steal a glance at him and know if he was still looking at me. I met his eyes again, making me to look down back at my phone.
This was going to be a long hour and half.
The time dragged slowly as I waited for Holly to get back. And praying that something would come up and Isaac would leave. And besides, why was he even here instead of in his class.
"Aren't you going to keep on drawing?" I heard him ask and I raised my eyes to look at him.
"I can't draw when someone's right in front of me watching me like I'm free entertainment." I answered looking back down at my phone.
"Aren't you?" He asked adjusting his legs.
One thing I could really say was that Isaac talked a lot more than I'd ever imagined he did. In the last two days, he had spoken more words than I'd ever heard him say since I knew him.
"No I'm not," I answered taking in a huge breath.
I knew it was still too early to ask but where in the world was Miss Holly?"
"I think you're." He said then took his legs down from the table and stood up.
Just then, the door flung open attracting our attention to it while Nathan came striding in.
What was with people and coming inside the lab today?
I rolled my eyes at him and he waved a hand in the air, grinning from ear to ear.
"Hey bro! Hey Nevaeh!" He said loudly as he approached us.
Nevaeh? How did this guy know my first name?! No one ever called me that and I always introduced myself with my middle name.
"It's Adah," I said to him. "Miss Holly isn't in here and no one's allowed when she's not around."
"Oh don't worry about it, I'm an exception." He said as he stood beside Isaac and slapped his back. I was guessing that was their 'bro' way of greeting themselves.
"Why do you keep on hitting me?" I heard Isaac ask under his breath.
I rolled my eyes at the both of them and stood up folding my arms. "First Isaac, now you? Are y'all lying?"
Nathan looked at me and back at Isaac before laughing out loud. "I'm being serious Neveah," he said. "You can ask Isaac,"
I turned to look at Isaac who shrugged at me making me feel defeated. Whatever the case, I was just glad that someone else was in here and the air didn't feel suffocated any longer.
"Anyways, Isaac said you'd be here cause I was looking for you to invite you to my party next week," Nathan said as he sat down.
Isaac shot him a look like he (Nathan) had just said something he shouldn't have.
"Chill bro," Nathan said to him before turning back at me. "So what do you say?"
"No," I replied without hesitation as I started packing my pencils back into its case.
