Asking a favor

We take our seats in the banquet hall at the head table. Sitting with us are Matts parents, Alex and Andrea, Alpha Marcus and Luna Silvia, and Alphas Iris and Derrick. Our table is set with an enormous feast. Marinated skirt steak, roast chicken, smoked salmon, coconut jumbo shrimp skewers, and those are just the main entrees, there are also over 15 sides. Everyone is enjoying themselves, telling jokes and poking fun at each other, but Im to distracted by all this meat. I really should be concerned how ridiculous I look but I honestly dont care, right now I do not have the will power to drop my fork. The head chef from the catering company comes to check how we are liking the food. " Everything is wonderful, as usual thats why I only call in the best" Marie matts mother says. " I have to ask, what is in this marinade? I have had plenty of steaks before but there is something that makes this steak special and really stand out" Alpha derrick says. The chef laughs he has obviously been asked this before. " Well your not the first to ask" he says" The secret ingredient I put in my marinade is..." "coffee" I blurt out. Everyones head snap in my direction. I immediately blush, i can feel my ears go bright red." Actually thats correct, how did you know, nobody has ever guessed not even my fellow employees". He is half excited that i guessed correctly and half annoyed that he didn't stump me. He turns and leaves. "How did you know it was coffee" Andrea asks. " I dont know, I can just taste it" i say. " Thats incredible I dont taste a single trace of it" Alpha Derrick says. " Hmmm maybe my piece was left in the marinade a little longer" I say eager to take the attention off me. When we finish our meal Matt asks the 3 Alphas to join us in his office. We all head to the office and take our seats at the large oak table. Matt pushes my seat in behind me then takes the seat beside me placing his hand in mine." You are all aware of the situation regarding my brothers imprisonment, I bring you in here because I have a favor to ask of you. Will one of you be willing to hold my brother at one of your pack houses. He threatened my life so he could steal my mate and as long as he is on Black Water territory Luna Larissa is not safe." He says. Alpha Marcus is the first to speak," Alpha Matt I will have to respectfully deny your request, although my pack is strong and we have many members, we do not have jail cells equipped to handle someone as dangerous as Daniel, im sorry Alpha" he says. Alpha Derrick speaks next, " Midnight pack can hold him. He have the strongest cells made entirely out of silver" he says " White Wind pack does as well" Alpha Iris speaks" Alpha Matt I would like to be chosen for this task, I do not doubt Alpha Derrick, but if Daniel is as dangerous as Alpha Marcus says there is always a small chance he could escape, The Midnight pack is only 2 hours away from here if there was to be an escape that would not be enough time to warn you" she says." White Wind pack on the other hand is more then 8 hours away, if he were to escape, well time is a valuable thing and my pack can offer you more of it. I look over at Matt and I can tell he is considering her offer. " Whatever you choose baby, I will stand by you" I tell him through our link. He gives my hand a squeeze and stands to his feet. " Thank you Alpha Derrick for your loyalty and your generosity, but I wil have to agree with Alpha Iris, at the moment I believe White Wind pack is the better option." He says. Everyone stands and shakes hands in agreement. Alpha Iris leans in to give me a quick hus and I can sense her demeanor has changed, she no longer radiates confidence and dominance, i sense desperation and...betrayal. I try to act normal and maintain my composure but I cant shake the eerie feeling she is hiding something. " To the bonfire" Matt leads us all outside. Im sitting on a smooth bolder warming myself by the fire, watching pack members of different tribes bond with one another. I sense new love as I see several girls cling to their new found mates, its a beautiful thing to behold. Watching 2 souls find their other half, its amazing that they can fall in love in a matter of minutes, I can see their intense need for one another. Suddenly my dress is being tugged on and I turn to my left to see little Amy smiling at me, I scoop her up in my lap and we sway in front of the fire. I feel her head roll to the side and I know she has fallen asleep. I look down at her beautiful face and brushe her bangs out of her face. " She looks like a little angel". Matt says as he leans over me. I let out a big yawn. Sarah(Amys mom) walks over to us. " Im sorry Luna I didnt realize Amy had slipped away, im sorry if she has disturbed you." She says gently scooping Amy up. " Not at all, she is such a sweetheart heart, really not a bother at all" i tell her. " Thank you Luna for being so kind...goodnight Alpha goodnight Luna" she smiles at us and turns to take Amy to bed. I let out another big yawn. " Alright lets get you to bed to" I apologize to our guest for leaving the party early but I am honestly burnt out. I search for Alpha Iris but she is nowhere to be found, i decide ill just wake up early to make sure I thank her for coming and for her gracious offer to take Daniel.

Im sitting on the edge of the bed and Matt lifts my feet up to unfasten my heels. " Ahhhhh much better" i say. I stand to my feet and Matt helps me out of my dress. He pulls back the blanket and I crawl into bed. He kisses my forhead " Ill be back in in a little while" he says. Im to tired to reply, I just smile and drift into a deep sleep.
