Michael took a sip of his coffee. “Well, maybe he’s the one for her.” His heart broke as he said it, and the coffee burned his tongue, but despite it all, he kept his expression unchanged. He didn’t want Gary to see how much it hurt, and he didn’t want to admit to himself that it did hurt. Gary sighed and shook his head bitterly when he heard that. Maybe he was wrong, maybe his boss didn’t really love his wife, but it was a shame, because the wife already loved him. But he would never tell Michael that, since he had promised Sasha he wouldn’t. “I’ll go get the plates,” Gary said, disappearing into the kitchen. Michael’s fingers tightened around his cup, and for once, his facial expression changed, though only briefly, before he regained his composure just as Gary returned to the living
