The party ii

956 Words
Jackie POV I could still feel someone’s eyes on me. Maybe it was just my imagination. This was really ridiculous. After sitting awkwardly at a table for almost an hour—which to me felt like a whole year—I decided to go and stand at the balcony, away from the crowd. I really needed some fresh air because I was almost suffocating from the tension that made me sweat uncontrollably. Everyone was happy and mingling with each other—everyone except me, of course. What was really wrong with me? Maybe coming to this party was a bad idea after all. But how could I have refused my own mother? Besides, I had wanted to come. I rarely got chances to attend parties. I should cherish this opportunity. After getting some fresh air, I decided to go back inside. Most of the activities were already over, and it was now the after-party. I hadn’t really cared about any of the activities anyway. I had already made up my mind to go home since the party was almost ending. It was already dark. I would rather go to my room, read a book, or scroll through my phone than stay here. I had no idea where my mother was. I last saw her a few hours ago. She was probably enjoying herself to the fullest. Mom must have been great at parties when she was younger—unlike me. My life was completely different from hers. I wondered where I picked up this nerdy personality from. Lost in my thoughts, I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going. Before I could realize what was happening, I bumped into something hard and landed straight on the ground. Wait—where did that wall come from? I didn’t see any wall here earlier. I looked up, and my eyes met his green ones. As usual, they carried that seriousness that had never faded since the time I had known him. I quickly looked away, suddenly remembering that I was still on the ground. Oh God, this was so embarrassing. I panicked as I tried to get up. As I struggled, he stretched out his hand. Oh my God. Was I dreaming? I hesitated for a moment, then finally took his hand, and he helped me to my feet. “I’m sorry,” he said. My eyes were fixed on his lips. My God, what would it feel like to have them dancing with mine? Don’t be silly, my subconscious scolded me harshly. Shit. I didn’t even know what to say. This was not the Tony I knew. The Tony I knew never apologized—especially not to a nerd like me. As I mentioned before, Tony and I had been good friends when we were younger. But as we grew up, things changed, and we chose different paths. While I was still trying to figure out what to say, the MC announced that it was time for a dance from the “main boy.” Tony heard the announcement, but he didn’t let go of my hand. Instead, he held it even tighter. My heart began to race. Was this really happening? “Dance this first dance with me,” he said, confirming my fears. Why would he suddenly want to dance with me? I didn’t know whether to refuse or accept. Before I could think it through, I found myself following him to the dance floor. I had no idea how I was going to do this in front of so many people. When we reached the dance floor, all eyes were already on us. I noticed several girls staring at me with envy. It was clear that I had already made enemies. This was not the lifestyle I wanted. I preferred my quiet, humble life. The music started playing, and Tony placed his hand on my waist, sending butterflies straight to my stomach. Could I really get used to this? I wasn’t sure I could dance with so many eyes on me. As we began to move, Tony guided me through every step. After a while, I realized I was getting better, and I no longer cared about the many eyes watching me. In fact, I was enjoying myself. More people joined the dance floor, and we were no longer the center of attention. Suddenly, the music changed to a slow song, forcing us to dance closer. Tony pulled me gently against his chest. I could feel his toned body through his shirt, and his scent filled my senses, intoxicating me. We danced in silence. To my surprise, I felt his arousal through his jeans. I couldn’t believe I was capable of turning such a handsome guy on. He lifted my face, forcing my eyes to meet his. I was completely lost in them. His lips curved into a smile. What was happening tonight? The good thing was that no one was paying attention to us—everyone was lost in their own dance. He brushed his thumb gently across my lips, making me part them without thinking. Taking advantage of the moment, he leaned in, and before I could realize it, his lips were on mine. God, tell me this wasn’t a dream. The most handsome man in town was kissing a nerd. What if he was just using me? The thought crossed my mind, but I didn’t pull away. Pervert, my mind whispered. The kiss deepened, and I felt his hand slide to my ass. The dance had turned into a full make-out session. When I felt his hand move to my breast, reality hit me hard. I pulled away and ran out of the house. I ran all the way home.
