Moments in time

My body slammed into a large brick building, causing it's wall to crumble. I climbed out of the pile of bricks that lay on top of me, and came face to face with the man with the evil red eyes.  It was now the 1920s, the battle between me and this man has been raging for centuries, and I am growing tired of it.  I extended my wings, a surge of power went through my body as I changed from my human form, to my monstrous one.  Claws grew form my finger, fangs tore through my gums, my eyes became an electric blue, and my hair turned white.  From my lips erupted a high pitched screech that shattered the glass windows in that was left in the building.  The evil man that stood before me took a form similar to mine, but instead of feathered wings, his wings were like that of a bat, and his skin took on a shade of grey.  Despite his more deadly appearance, his aura told me he is weaker than I am.  He bore his teeth at me, his fangs dripping with venom.  I had my claws ready to slice through his skin as soon as he charged.  His rage filled attack made him careless, he left his mid section wide open for me to strike.  I ducked and slashed my claws across his belly, as he lunged for me.  His body hit the floor and he let out a pain filled cry as he held his wound, he looked down at his bloody hand then back at me, if it were even possible his eyes seemed to be filled with more anger and took an even darker shade of red.       "All these centuries passed, and you are still a terrible fighter." I said mockingly, he lunged for me once again, I dodged and sliced through his wing this time,       "You're going to have to do better then that, you know you can't kill me if he is not here" I said kicking him in the head.  I got too close while he was down and he used his claw to slice through my leg.  I screamed and toppled over, that's what I get for being cocky, I thought.  He took his opportunity and landed a punch to my jaw.  I tasted blood in my mouth, but it was gone quickly, my leg had already begun to heal.  Before he could strike again I quickly used my wings and propelled myself back up onto my feet.      "I just have to be patient" he said spitting out blood," you two are like a magnets drawn to each other, neither one of you can resist the pull of the other."  He let out an evil laugh,       "All I need is enough time to kill you." I said as I climbed on top of him and began beating him, he tried to block his face but failed.  I was determined to make him suffer the way he had made me suffer for all these centuries, I was going to make his death slow and painful.  I picked him up and threw him through a wall, causing more to the building we were in to fall.  Centuries of anger, and resentment came flooding out of me, pent up emotions of loss and pain, but also relief that I was finally going to end this.  Unfortunately for me my plan was foiled by a single voice calling out for me.             "Opal!" the voice called "Opal!" I halted my attack and looked behind me to where the voice was coming from.  Before the owner of the voice came into view I heard the evil man say,         "I told you, I just had to be patient," and with that he took a pipe and plunged it into my stomach.  From the corner of my eye I saw Lucas emerge from behind a pile of rubble.     "Opal!" he screamed one last time before I sunk into darkness once again.       I woke to someone shaking me vigorously, my eyes opened to see an annoyed looking Lucas standing in front of me.  I was still sitting in the rocking chair on the tiny porch in Kasandra's back yard. The sun had sunk well below the horizon, and wouldn't be coming up again for a few more hours.  My eyes struggled to focus on Lucas,      "Opal, wake up" he demanded,      "I'm awake" I groaned pushing his hands off of me, I rubbed my head trying to focus on the present instead of the dream I just had.  Lucas was looking at me with slight concern in his eyes, but that concern was quickly replaced by anger.       "What kind of dugs are you on?" he asked, I looked at him in disbelief, was he serious?  He thinks I'm on drugs!?     "I don't do drugs, Lucas" I responded emphasizing his name,     "You could have fooled me, I was trying to sleep and I hear growling coming form out here, at first I thought it was a dog or something, imagine my surprise when it's you passed out outside" he said.       "And here I thought you had come out here so we could spend some time quality time together" I said sarcastically, Lucas narrowed his eyes at me,      "You listen here, Opal, or whatever your name is, you need to be gone by the time my mother wakes up tomorrow, do you understand?"        "I don't have anywhere to go or else I would happily be here, rather then sit here and be belittled by you, but unfortunately for you I am a guest of your mothers, and I do not take orders from you, I am not leaving until I find my home, or you mother tells me to leave."  I stood up and got right in his face to show him that he did not scare me,  as I looked into his eyes I saw a hint of amusement.  Lucas confused me, he was like a dream the first time we met, and now he is a complete nightmare, and to make matters worse it seemed like he was hiding something behind this cold exterior of his.       "She'll want you gone soon enough, I'll make sure of that" he said as he stalked off back toward the house.       As soon as Lucas went back inside, I rushed into the tiny house and searched for a pen and a note pad, it didn't take me long to locate them, I needed to write down everything I could remember about the dream I had in the hospital, and the dream I had tonight.  I wasn't sure if Lucas was in my second dream because I had just met him that day, or because somehow Lucas is part of my past.  None the less these dreams meant something, maybe the events in the dreams are metaphors for things that happened in my real life.  My mind was racing with possibilities, anything from domestic violence, to the possibility I was some immortal creature, the last one made me laugh.  I looked at the clock on the wall it was a quarter till one, I decided that I needed to get some sleep and I would figure the rest out in the morning.
