Chapter 4
It seemed that no sooner had I hit the bed, when my alarm went off. I felt rested, but heck it would have been nice to sleep in a bit longer. Still, I had lots to do, and I worked at four, so I figured I’d best get started. Once showered and shaved, I went downstairs to find breakfast ready for me.
“I heard you up and about. I didn’t want you to have to wait for your breakfast, and it’s on the house, by the way.” Her smile reminded me of something predatory that I saw on a nature channel once. “When should I book a table for you and Randy at the diner, dear?”
“Um, I’d best talk to him, to see if he even wants to grab a meal with me, before I commit.”
