One: The Royal Ball

A distant chatter was heard and classical music was in tune. A red carpet greeting the guests in the staircase on the entrance. Chauffers dropping off their masters from majestic carriages, astonishing cars, and stunning limousines as valets open up their door. Fairies flying, witches laughing, mermaids and mermen swam and as they land on the ground, their tails turn into legs.

A spectacular huge chandelier in the ballroom was extravagantly filled with magical lightings. The chocolate fountain highlights the enormous buffet served with different kinds of dishes and desserts.

Everyone was dressed elegantly assisted by their personal maids. Kids running down the hallway and grown-ups clinging their glasses. Kings and Queens, Princes, and Princesses from different kingdoms were invited. Even the vampire and wolf elders were present too.

"The Crowned Prince has grown into such a fine man." Hilda said looking at the Crowned prince chatting with his friends.

"No wonder a lot of ladies and princesses from other kingdoms came to visit this Royal Ball" Franco added and ate the cake he got from the buffet.

After 10 years, the battle between the Venganzians and the Driens that night was never been told to anybody and remains a secret. They need to protect the crowned prince's future and have to never say a word about what happened that night. Especially the fact that the prince was mateless.

"Ladies and gentlemen, let us all welcome the Omegas!" The announcer said that put everybody's attention to the staircase where the Omegas went down as everybody applauded them.

The music change and everybody were already on the dance floor.

"The crowned prince will finally meet his mate on his 18th birthday, I can't wait" A random girl said which is heard by Adam who is just a few tables away from them, and turned his mood bad.

"Girl, if he finally meets his mate, we will have zero chances of being with him, even as just mere ex-girlfriends" another girl rumored.

Adam's best friend Lucas felt that the gossip isn't making Adam comfortable so his eyes turned red and looked at the ladies in the eyes as he hypnotized them to walk away.

"Chill out dude, you always wear your grumpy look. That doesn't make you any more handsome than I am" Julius arrogantly said to Adam who doesn't seem to care about what he just said and just drank his wine.

"Handsome? Referring to me my friend?" Angelo said countering Julius's arrogance.

"Absolutely not my dear fish friend" Julius said that made Angelo make face at him.

"I am not a fish Julius, I'm a merman!" Angelo corrected him.

"Same difference" Julius simply replied shrugging his shoulders that made the drink in his glass flew to his face right after being controlled by Angelo.

"What the -----" Julius didn't finish what he was about to say when Koda snapped his fingers that made them froze.

"Don't even think of starting a fight at this party you two" Koda said as he took both of them in the eyes and snap his fingers again to unfroze Julius and Angelo that looked badly at each other after.

After the incident from 10 years ago, Adam has been distant from people and rarely engage in social gathering. He was labeled a snob and weirdo, and even have fake friends that were only after fame and power. And that made him more distant from every kid that wanted to be friends with him, well not until he found his friends who truly value the friendship that brought back fun and adventure to Adam's life.

Everyone in the crowd started to applause as the King and Queen went up the stage and greeted everyone.

"It is an honor to have you here with us tonight." The Queen started with a big smile on her face.

"I welcome all of you in grand regards, because tonight, we will make change" The King added.

The King and Queen looked at each other with a smile on their faces as they face the crowd.

"We all know that the Driens Academy is such a big school for only vampires and ware wolves to attend to. So we finally propose to you a new way to unite us all" The Queen said and held the king's hands tightly.

"Tomorrow, we will open the Drien Academy to all students of Celliondale and all of the students from other continents!" The Queen continued which made everyone applaud and cheered for them.

"Open to all species? Your majesty, please pardon my rudeness. But do you also mean that the Venganzians can also attend the school?" A random vampire who doesn't seem to be familiar asked all of the sudden and got everybody's attention for that.

The King looked at his wife who seems nervous about the question.

"We're still thinking about it" The king responds.

Adam just then looked at his father confused. He can never accept the Venganzians to attend the same school as him. They were his mate's murderer. 

"But your highness, aren't we too heartless? We indeed cannot disregard the Venganzians drastic acts towards your family, and maybe to ours too, but we can't make their innocent offsprings to stay hidden with fear, criticism, and unrecognized by the world, can we?" A wolf speaks up and just made the crowd unbelievably favoring their speech.

The King and the Queen were left speechless. Adam can see that. Nobody knew what tragedy the Venganzians gave their family, so it is just easy for them to welcome them back to society.

"The Venganzians threatened our kind, and not only that, but they also wanted to rule over Celliondale" Adam speak up as he walks towards the stage and the crowd agreed with him.

"They were already exiled and punished for decades right after the last battle. What more can they do when they were already out of number?" A random person said.

The King and Queen can't seem to understand what's happening and scanned the crowd's reaction when something else caught their attention. On the far side of the stage, they saw a black wolf evolve into its human form, and some talk at each other suspiciously. And that moment, they knew that the Venganzians were there at the party.

The king looked at the general of his Royal Guard giving him a look to come to him, and as the general did, the king ordered him to surround the crowd. By that, the royal guards quickly surrounded the crowd that created a commotion.

"What is the meaning of this?" King Willard of the Fairytopia said as his guards protect him. All the royalties were also complaining about the king's acts. But the King stood up sternly and looked at the crowd with his authoritative eyes.

"Enough with your childish plays! Come out!" The King shouted, more like an order that silence and confused the crowd. Everyone can feel his superiority and saw how his eyes turned b****y red.

After a moment of silence later, a burst of loud laughter echoed in the ballroom that alarmed everyone.

"Show yourself!" the King shouted and a waiter steps out of the crowd as he scratches his face that revealed a new familiar face.

"Hubert..." The king said to his old enemy.

"Greetings your majesty, I heard you will be opening big opportunities to your people's children, and I am glad to be here and listen to the news" Hubert said, the most well-known Alpha of the Hawkins.

The crowd quickly moves away from Hubert, all scared and threatened. But some remained in their places and soon took off their disguises that showed the real them.

"Venganzians..." Adam said into thin air as he stared at Hubert in the eyes.

"You traitor! Why are you here?!" Garry said, the Grimfangs Alpha and the Queen's father.

"There, there, Garry my friend, don't act like we never have been friends before, that hurts my feelings" Hubert said and acted as if he was hurt and walk towards Garry when a pack of wolves turn to their form and protected their Alpha from Hubert. In the same way, a pack of black wolves also protected their alpha and some vampires were also on their side.

Adam's rage began to build up recalling what happened 10 years ago. And looking at Hubert, he might lose his temper.

"My dear friend, it was just a question I asked for the sake of my pack's future. Anyway, we made a truce decades ago right?" Hubert said with a wide grin on his face knowing the fact that they haven't told anybody about the catastrophe that happened 10 years ago.

"Your pack's future?" everyone's eyes fell on Adam who asked sarcastically.

"Why my dear boy, Adam. You've grown up so fast" Hubert said and attempted to walk towards Adam when the Queen herself transformed into her wolf form and blocked Hubert's way. The king also grew his fangs and ran in quick speed beside his wife. and a battalion of royal guards was in front of them.

"Don't come near my son you traitor!" The Queen growl that only her mate and wolves can understand.

Once again, Hubert laughed evilly at the Queen and how everybody was threatened by his first step.

"How hilarious, you don't have to be so protective. I was just going to say hi" Hubert said and now his expression became serious.

"Get out of here Hubert" the king ordered that made a frown on Hubert's face as he turned around showing a sarcastic sad face.

"How sad, I was just here to offer my early gift to the Crowned prince for his upcoming 18th birthday" Hubert said.

"I don't need a gift from you" Adam scoffs off.

Hubert then created an evil smile.

"Oh really? I think otherwise my boy" Hubert said showing a little girl's bracelet with a withered purple little night phlox on it.

Adam's eyes stared at the familiar bracelet and memories flashback to him. Even the Omegas gasp by just seeing the bracelet.

"Adam, do you know that night phlox can catch your bad dreams?" A soft angelic voice from a little girl said to the young prince while they were strolling down on the outside garden of the palace.

"Just like the dream catcher, my parents gave me from the human world?" Young Adam asked innocently. The little girl just shrugged her shoulders.

"I don't know, I've never seen anything from the human world before." the little girl said and seems so sad all of the sudden. Adam felt a little guilty for no reason so he picks something out of his pocket and showed it to the little girl.

"Here" Adam said as he wears the bracelet to the little girl's arm.

"Woah, a bracelet out of marbles?" The little girl looked at the bracelet with sparkling eyes.

"Yep, from the human world" Adam said that made the little girl's eyes twinkle.

"Thank you Adam!" the little girl said as she hugged him.

"You insolent fool!" Adam came back to reality when he heard his father shout at Hubert.

Even the elders looked threatened by the bracelet with tragedy embroidered to it, remembering that night. Franco, one of the elders ordered his grandson, Lucas, to take the crowned prince out of there. 

"Your highness, we must get out of here" Lucas said to Adam and Adam agreed to him. But Hubert is evil enough for him to be able to stop the crowned prince from leaving.

"That little girl is beautiful. Oh, what was her name again? Luna?" Hubert started. Adam looked at him and everyone can feel a bad aura coming out of the prince. That alerted the elders and the omegas.

"Take the prince out of her now!" Lucianna ordered that also alarmed the guest.

"What is happening?"

"Is there something about that bracelet?"

"Who is the little girl they were talking about?"

The crowd started to gossip.

"Son, get out of here now" The Queen said in her low voice hinted with worry as she held her son's arms.

"I can still recall how she begged for help" Hubert evilly grinned as he saw how Adam's eyes turned red. Everyone in the ballroom was also confused about what is going on and started to gossip louder.

"Oh I remember she mentioned a name, what is it again? Oh, I know!" Hubert said like remembering something and stared at Adam's eyes earnestly.

"Adam..." Hubert whispered that made Adam turn into his wolf form with rage and is going to attack Hubert.

"Adam!!!" Everyone called out for his name and tried to stop him, but he was so strong for them to stop him. 

Hubert on the other hand seems to be expecting it so much that he didn't even move in his place and just waited for Adam to go near him as an evil smirk formed in his face.

"Die!" Adam growled and a wide grin was shown on Hubert's face that confused him.

And it was late before he realized that it was a trap when he saw how a black and white wolf landed right in front of Hubert and change its form into a beautiful lady and a force field was created in a blink of an eye that protected Hubert from the attack and made Adam flew to the wall by the huge impact.

"Adam!!!" Koda went to help Adam up as he changes back to his human form.

"The girl's ability----- Lucianna" Leonardo said in a panic looking alarmed at Lucainna.

"A force field..." Lucianna said unbelievably.

Adam then looks fiercely back in Hubert's direction, but instead, he met the lady's eyes.

Hubert on the other side seems pretty satisfied with what just happened and tossed the bracelet on the ground right in front of the Highnesses.

"I guess we should leave now, thank you for the hospitality. We gladly appreciate it." Hubert said and turn to leave.

While Adam's eyes still can't get off from the girl's whole figure.

"Luna..." Adam whispered and tried to walk towards her when Lucas stopped him.

"Adam" Lucas hardly warned Adam not to make the mess bigger by just the tone in the way he called Adam's name.

The girl looked at him with confusion in her eyes.

"Hera, come on my dear" Hubert called out that confused Adam.

"Yes, father" The girl Hubert called Hera replied and followed him.

Everyone felt relief after the Venganzians left. The king also apologized to all of the guests and ended the party early. Though some questions were asked but never answered, they cleared all the suspicions.

Adam can't understand what he feels after his eyes met Hera's eyes. It's the same feeling he felt the day he first saw Luna, the little girl whose eyes glowed with him, his mate.

Adam was looking at the bright moon above in his chamber's terrace together with his mother, the Queen, who went to check upon him.

"That girl..." Adam whispered unintentionally.

"Adam, no. I know what you were thinking. You can't mistake her for your mate. Luna's dead" The Queen said that made Adam looked at her with his eyebrows meeting up.

"Mother..." Adam groaned with what he heard.

"You heard Hubert, her name is Hera, not Luna" The Queen said and Adam can sense panic in her voice.

"I know mother, and I know I can't bring her back" Adam said in a low voice, and the Queen can see how broken he is right now.

"Son, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to open that to you" The Queen explained but Adam didn't respond.

"Get out mom, I want to be alone right now" Adam said in his cold tone.

The Queen understand what he's feeling right now and sighed as she taps his shoulder. Nothing is more painful than losing a mate for a wolf, and even though he is half-vampire, that doesn't lessen the pain at all.

"This is not the first time" The Queen said and finally left the room. And what she meant was the feeling Adam has every time he encountered a girl that seems and looks like Luna.

Adam looked angrily at the moon.

"You should have killed me that day too" Adam said as he throws the glass of blood in his hands and is about to went inside when his eyes caught something from the dark forest beyond the palace walls. It looks like someone is watching him from the tall tree.

Adam used his sharp eyes to clearly see who is it and saw the very same girl who invaded the party earlier.

Their eyes met again before Hera jumps off the tree and disappear into the dark forest.

"Who are you?" Adam asked and stared at the pitch-black forest.
