Miranda Wright and Midnight had double-teamed Ashok, Midnight in person and Miranda on the phone, and refused to take no for an answer. The Misses Cactus Rose were scheduled to hostess their first show. Empress Summer and Emperor Andrew and various of their court members had signed up to perform, a strong endorsement from the Empire that boded well for future fund-raising opportunities and participation in the community. Midnight would dust off Dinah’s “What a Difference a Day Makes,” and had promised a new costume that would surprise and delight even Raima, from whom Midnight hadn’t been able to keep so much as her choice of earrings a secret over the course of their careers.
