The night after Ashok’s first date with Danny, Raima Reason and Midnight Eaton were slated to appear at The Crossing with comedy rocker chick Phyllis Crackin and strumming songbird Rose Marian Thyme. Theirs wasn’t the most highly polished or the most professional or even the most fun drag show in Santa Fe, but, spanning genres from Midnight’s forties torch to Raima’s Bollywood Now!, it drew a certain amount of attention in the drag community for its diversity. And for the tenacity of its queens, who knew they weren’t the fishiest or the fiercest in town, but who hit The Crossing’s rickety stage like they were Madonna on tour week after week.
