2 ANSWERING THE CALL “But-but…” Arthur stuttered, thrown off-guard. “What for?” Alastair brushed the question aside impatiently. “Can’t stop to explain now; we’ve no time to waste. Any moment now he might find out he’s got the dates mixed up and come back…” Before Arthur could say anything with his mind in such a whirl, his friend hustled him down the stairs and produced the manager’s keys and, carefully selecting one, turned it in the keyhole. “Now yours,” he directed.
