Part 3

It had been more than two weeks and there were no signs of Valentine. Every day while returning home, Jamie would hope to meet the other girl but it never happened. There was this strange urge in her to meet her, listen to her voice and somewhere deep down, to touch her. Never has Jamie ever felt this way for anyone before in her life, not even her boyfriend for six years, Mason. Valentine was different, there was something different about her, the way her scent drawn Jamie towards her or the way her voice sounded or the way Jamie felt when Valentine held her for a few moments, which she wished were centuries or the spark that she felt whenever Valentine touched her. It was all so surreal for her. She remembered reading such things in books way back then, but until now she never knew the feeling. Until Valentine. Today was Maddeline and Mason's 18th birthday. They were throwing a big party in a club. Jamie never liked going to such parties. She hated the smell of beer and loud music. Especially obnoxious teens who would grope her whenever they got a chance. Her being blind never helped in such situations. After hours and hours of begging from both twins, Jamie reluctantly agreed to go out. Both twins promised to look out for her but she knew better. Jamie knew that the twins were the stars of their Highschool and so there would be a huge crowd at their birthday party. Something bad was bound to happen tonight and she could feel it. At sometime in the evening the twins came by to pick Jamie up. The drive was fun as they all sang together and talked about all the things they wanted to do after school. Everyone was excited about Jamie's surgery which was in a month. All her friends and family members were hopeful for her sight to return but Jamie was afraid. She didn't want to get hurt by the results. The twins have been with Jamie since they were born, their parents being friends since high school, they always lived together. They had been neighbors for a long while but after Jamie's father died they left the family house and moved. It was too much for all of them. Now that she thinks about it, it was for the best. Soon they reached the club and the smell of alcohol hit Jamie. Her face scrunched up and the twins laughed at her expression. They led Jamie inside and helped her get seated. Mason introduced Jamie to his jock friends from school whereas Maddy introduced her to all the cheerleaders. Jamie remembered watching mean girls and another typical high school movies, she thought that maybe it was for the better that she can not see the looks she must be receiving after them knowing that she can not see. Not knowing how she looks now didn't help either. Thinking about how she looked now made her think about how Maddy and Mason looked. We're they the same chubby redheads? Or were they different too? What would they look like now? What would she feel when she'd be able to see them again? What would happen when she will see her?. Suddenly a song playing got everyone's attention and all the girls rushed to the dance floor but not before Maddy warned Jamie not to wander off alone and stay seated. Jamie felt awful whenever she was treated like this. Yes, she couldn't see and yes Maddy did that because she cared but still it sucked. She was staying in her seat sulking, as per Maddy's orders, when she smelt something or more like someone. It was definitely a man on the basis of his choice if cologne and the stink of alcohol on him. Her face scrunched up at the awful smell. "Hey, Beautiful. What's a girl like you doing sitting alone in a club like this?" he slurred. The smell of his breath was so bad that Jamie literally gagged right in front of him. That must have been an answer enough for him because he moved from the seat next to her. Jamie thanked her lucky stars and quickly finished her drink. She didn't want to worry Maddy about what happened because it was her birthday and she didn't want to ruin it for her so she kept quiet. After a while, Jamie asked Maddy to help her to the restroom as she was feeling weird. Maddy was gonna help her but the announcement from DJ stopped her and she asked one of her friends to help Jamie. Jamie being ever polite and understanding agreed to it. When she reached the restroom she was feeling extremely dizzy and the next thing she knew she was being carried by someone. It was the same guy from earlier, she couldn't forget that stink. She tried her best to move but couldn't, it was like her body was made of stone. She felt tears flowing and she wanted to shout and struggle but it was all in vain. Then, something caught Jamie's attention. It was the same scent that had been in Jamie's mind for the past few weeks. She was here... Staying away from Jamie was one of the hardest things that Valentine had to do. She never felt this much need to see or be near someone in her life before. She would go to the cafe when it all would get too much for her but never approached the other girl. She would watch Jamie from afar like one would watch the moon, knowing that it is the brightest thing in the sky at night and everyone wants it but no one could ever get it. Valentine's life was the dark night and Jamie was the moon. Valentine seldom found herself entranced by the beauty of the brunette girl. She would watch her from afar, her beautiful face, the way her eyes sparkled whenever she smiled, the way her hair fell in perfect falls behind her shoulders, the way she moved with such grace, the way her beautiful pink lips moved when she spoke, the cute dimples that adored her face and all the world would just vanish when she looked into those eyes. Those eyes that she was sure she had seen before but always failed to remember where. But it never changed the fact that no matter how many times or for how long she got to see those eyes, it always left her wanting for more. Tonight there was a party in one of her father's club where they would be selling drugs and pills. Valentine never liked whatever her father did but she also never had the courage to question him as he was the only one that scared her and his punishments weren't exactly something she looked forward to, so when the orders came she simply followed them. Victor knew how she felt so he made sure to always accompany her and be by her side. Valentine never admitted but she was thankful for the gesture. Tonight was no different, Valentine was accompanied by his father's right hand George's men along with her gang. When they reached the club they all separated. Valentine was sitting at the bar having a drink when the announcement from DJ caught her attention, it was the twins' birthday party. If the twins were here that meant that maybe she was here too. Valentine's heartbeat picked up at the mere thought of seeing Jamie. Before she could stop, her eyes were roaming the club in search of a familiar brunette. Something caught her attention, it was one of George's guys and he was moving towards the restroom. To any other person, it would look normal but Valentine knew better. She decided to follow him. For a few minutes, he was nowhere in sight but then the door to back alley opening caught her attention. She followed him. He looked like he was carrying someone and he was cursing at the person. Valentine thought it'd be one of the girls he picked at the bar and decided to head back inside but the brunette headlocks caught her attention. He was carrying her. It took her a few seconds to realize what was happening and that angered her beyond her own imagination. Within a breath, she was standing in front of the drunk guy. "What the f**k do you want?" he slurred. Valentine didn't say anything at first and when he looked closer who he was talking to his face paled. "M-miss V-valentine" he stuttered and bowed his head. The sound of whimpers from Jamie caught Valentine's attention. She held out her hand, the guy looked at her hand and quickly understood what she wanted. He put Jamie down on her feet but her legs gave in and Valentine quickly caught her. Valentine easily carried her in her arms and took her to her car but not before motioning for the guy to follow. He gulped and followed her. When Valentine was sure that Jamie was secure in the back seat of her car she closed the door and looked at the guy. He was one of the important ones so she can not kill him. She tsked which made the guy shiver and he fell on his knees, "Please Miss. I beg for your mercy, I didn't know she was your friend" he spoke frantically. He knew that Valentine was ruthless and he had heard of all those times when someone dared to make her angry. He didn't want to be at the receiving end of her wrath but it was already too late for him. Valentine went to the trunk of her car and took out her aluminum baseball bat. She went to stand in front of him and saw him shivering. She motioned him to put his hands on the ground and he did, she hit him hard and broke his hand. He screamed like a dog but didn't dare move his hands. Then she hit his other hand breaking that as well, then she hit him, again and again, breaking all bones in his arms. By that time he was on the ground screaming and crying begging for mercy but she wasn't listening. All she could think of was that what if she didn't come on time. This made her rage fuel even more and she hit him harder than the last time and broke his right leg. She was gonna hit him again when the movement in the car caught her attention. She put a finger on her lips and motioned for the guy to keep silent and he did so in a breath. Valentine then moved to the car and saw Jamie. She texted Victor about the guy and took off. Valentine parked her car outside a*****e to buy water for the girl who was still unconscious on the back seat of her car. She paid for it and ran to her car. She opened the door and paused for a moment. She looked at Jamie and then at her hands which were covered in leather gloves. It took her a whole minute but she got in and pulled the girl in a sitting position. She opened the water bottle and sprinkled some on Jamie's face. Jamie woke up gasping, Valentine didn't speak just took her hand and put the bottle in it. Jamie was still disoriented so Valentine helped her drink water. "Valentine" Jamie breathed and put her head on Valentine's shoulder. She tensed at the gesture but didn't move. "What happened? Why am I feeling this way?" she asked her, "Someone must've mixed something in your drink. You are fine now. I'll take you home" she responded. "No please, not like this. My mom will freak out. Let's wait till I get a bit better?" Jamie asked. To say Valentine was surprised would be an understatement but she couldn't help but feel... something. The thought of spending time with Jamie was too alluring to decline. Valentine nodded her head but remembered that Jamie couldn't see her so she spoke, "Okay," she replied and started to move but Jamie held her by wrapping her hands around her arm. Valentine was surprised to see the gesture but didn't dare oppose. She remained tensed and whenever Jamie would move she would control the urge to run as far away as possible. At times she almost winced but controlled herself for the sake of the other girl. After a few moments, Jamie's breathing evened and she wasn't moving anymore. Valentine moved slowly and out of the girl's embrace. She carefully laid her down on the seat and went to the front. She drove to the nearest MacDonald Drive-thru and played the recording on her cell of Victor's voice in which he gave her order. Valentine wasn't fond of talking, at all and she avoided it as much as possible and people who knew her knew that so nobody dared oppose. Jamie was one of the few people who had actually heard her. After collecting the food she drove to her nearest spot where she would eat when alone. It was an old deserted parking lot with a few lights to light the space. The darkness always provided her with some sort of comfort. She knew that she had nothing to be afraid of, after all, she was the thing the people were afraid of at dark nights like these. She was the monster, the boogeyman, the villain and the nightmare. She was bad and she knew it, she owned it, but somehow she wanted to be more for the girl who was currently sleeping in her back seat. She wanted to be the one who protects her against all the bad things and not be the one who hurts her. She didn't dare say it out loud even to herself but she wanted to be good for her. She would be anything she wanted her to be. Why? She had no f*****g idea. She just knew that she would do anything for her. She moved to the back seat and tried waking Jamie but she just groaned and turned causing her to fall. She groaned again and sat up rubbing her forehead. Valentine moved closer and rubbed her forehead before she could think about her actions. When she was sure that Jamie was alright she handed her burger and helped her eat. "Thanks," Jamie said, her cheeks flushed a shade of red which Valentine found extremely beautiful and felt the same warmth inside her again. She would feed her a fry every time Jamie would take a bite of her burger and then would offer her soda. When Jamie was done eating, Valentine wiped her face clean. Jamie blushed again and thanked her. "You feeling better now? Does anything hurt?" she asked Jamie. She tried her best to keep her voice monotone and not give away the fact that she was concerned for the girl. "No, I'm fine. Thank you for the food and for saving me, again. I have no idea what would have happened if you didn't come on time" she said and lowered her head. Valentine felt the rage flow through her body again, she decided to go back and break each and every bone in that bastard's body. "Let's get you home," Valentine said. She didn't want her to go just yet but it was getting late and her mother would freak out if she didn't go back soon and she was sure no one at the party knew she was missing. What kind of boyfriend would leave her girl like that and that girl being Jamie. If she were my girl--- wait, what? Valentine thought and then shook her head to get rid of her thoughts. She held Jamie's hand and lead her to the front seat and buckled her in. They drove in silence, a very comfortable one, and soon Valentine was parking her car in Jamie's driveway. She removed her seatbelt and quickly went to help Jamie with hers. She helped Jamie to her front door and rang the doorbell. Jamie still couldn't stand on her own properly so she was leaning on Valentine. The door opened and a younger version of Jamie stood there looking at Valentine with her jaw dropped and eyes wide open, "Holy f**k!" Cassie breathed. She was just looking at Valentine, she didn't even see her sister standing there until she spoke, "Cassie, language" Jamie tried to say sternly but it came more like a strangled voice. "Holy s**t, what happened to you? Weren't you supposed to be at the party with the twins?" Cassie asked and moved forward towards her sister. She tried to help her but failed and almost made her fall face first but Valentine saved her. She then picked Jamie up in her arms bridal style and looked at her, "Follow me, I'll take you to her room" Cassie told Valentine who nodded and followed. Valentine took Jamie upstairs to her room and placed her on the bed. She removed her shoes and helped her lay down. She took medicine from her jacket's pocket and gave them to Jamie with water from her nightstand. After she was done she wiped her face and pulled covers over her and tucked her in. Jamie's hair was all over the place, Valentine carefully took them and placed them on the side of her head on the pillow. She then stood straight and looked at the sleeping girl and one word kept repeating in her mind, beautiful. She would have stayed there all night, watching Jamie if it wasn't for the vibration of her cell in her pocket. She knew who it was and she wasn't ready for any of it. She stayed there for a few minutes and then turned off the lights and closed the door. When she turned around Cassie was standing there, Valentine noticed that the younger girl had the same hair but her eyes were different. Cassie was standing there with her hands folded on her chest and one eyebrow raised, she was trying to look intimidating but was failing miserably. "Who are you and what did you do to my sister?" she asked. When she didn't receive any answers from Valentine she sighed. "Look, I don't know who you are but from your Goddess-like-looks, I can tell you definitely work for Victoria's Secret and I truly believe that those girls can't hurt anyone. So thanks for helping my sister get home safe and don't worry I won't tell mom about it," she said. Valentine nodded and turned to look at the close door once and then decided to leave. With Cassie in tow, she came downstairs and entered her car. When she was leaving the driveway, she noticed her cell vibrating again. She decided to check it this time and what she found her caused her to sigh and she threw her cell in passenger's seat. Valentine's car was still filled with the fragrance of Jamie's perfume and that somehow relaxed her. She took a deep breath and turned her car to meet her father. He wanted to see her about tonight's incidents. She was scared to see her father but that didn't matter. Jamie is safe and that's all that mattered.
