I sat on my bed, tears streaming down my face. Lyrien's words still echoed in my mind, "Making Packs". I was already pregnant, and the thought of carrying another child, let alone multiple, was daunting. But what scared me most was the danger my unborn child and I faced.
No one knew about my pregnancy, not even Ryker, Akira or Aria. I had planned to confide in Aria, but something held me back. Now, I was alone with my secret, and the weight of it was crushing me.
I thought about my options, but they seemed limited. I couldn't escape the pack, not without putting myself and my child in danger. And I couldn't tell anyone about my pregnancy, not yet. Lyrien would find out, and he would stop at nothing to claim my child as his own.
I felt a surge of determination. I would protect my child, no matter what. I would find a way to keep them safe, even if it meant sacrificing my happiness.
But how? I had 5–6 months before my pregnancy became visible, and the stress was already taking a toll. I knew I couldn't abort my child, not after everything I had been through. And being pregnant with another man's child while married to a king was a taboo I couldn't afford to break.
I wiped away my tears, steeling myself for what lay ahead. I will find a way to keep my child safe, no matter the cost. I would not lose the one thing that brought me joy in this dark world.
I stood up, my mind racing with thoughts. I had to be careful, and had to stay one step ahead of Lyrien. I would pretend to be the obedient mate while secretly planning my escape.
And then, I remembered Akira's note. "Run." It was a simple message, but it gave me hope. Maybe, just maybe, I had an ally in the pack. Someone who could help me escape, help me keep my child safe.
I felt a glimmer of determination. I would find Akira, and I would ask for her help. Together, we could come up with a plan to keep my child safe, to keep me safe.
I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what was to come. I would do whatever it took to protect my child, no matter the cost.
I made my way to Akira's quarters, my heart racing with anticipation. I had to be careful, had to make sure no one saw me. I knocked on the door, and Akira answered, her eyes narrowing as she saw me.
"Kaida, what are you doing here?" she asked, her voice low.
"I need your help," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I'm pregnant, Akira. And I know Lyrien will stop at nothing to claim my child as his own."
Akira's expression changed from curiosity to shock. "Kaida, I...I don't know what to say."
"Please, Akira," I begged. "You have to help me. I need a plan to keep my child safe. I need a way to escape."
Akira nodded, her eyes flashing with determination. "I'll help you, Kaida. We'll come up with a plan together. But we have to be careful. Lyrien has eyes and ears everywhere."
" Whose child are you carrying?” She asked, her voice demanding and firm.
“M.. my… boy … boyfriend, R.. Ryker” I stuttered, afraid of saying it to anyone
She nodded quietly, feeling a surge of hope. Maybe, just maybe, I had a chance to keep my child safe. Maybe I had a chance to escape.
Akira led me inside, and we began to brainstorm. We talked about possibilities, about risks, about the future. And for the first time in weeks, I felt a glimmer of hope.
Maybe I won't have to lose everything after all. Maybe I could keep my child safe, and find a way to be happy.
But as we talked, I couldn't shake off the feeling that Lyrien was watching us, waiting for us to make a move. And I knew that if he found out about my pregnancy, about my plan to escape...
I pushed the thought away, focusing on the present. I had to stay one step ahead of Lyrien and had to keep my child safe.
And with Akira's help, I knew I could do it.
Akira poured me a cup of tea, her hands moving with a calmness that belied the urgency of our situation. "We need to be smart about this, Kaida," she said, her eyes locked on mine. "Lyrien has too much power, too many followers. We can't take him on directly."
I nodded, feeling a surge of frustration. I wanted to act, to do something to protect my child. But Akira was right. We had to be strategic.
"What do you suggest?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Akira leaned in, her voice dropping to a whisper. "I have a contact outside the pack. Someone who can help us get you and your child to safety."
My heart skipped a beat. "Who is it?" I asked, my mind racing with possibilities.
Akira hesitated, glancing around the room as if she feared being overheard. "It's someone from my past," she said finally. "Someone I trust."
I nodded, feeling a surge of hope. Maybe, just maybe, we could pull this off.
But as we talked, I couldn't shake off the feeling that Lyrien was closing in on us. That he knew more than he was letting on.
And then, I heard a noise outside. A faint rustling was followed by the sound of footsteps.
Akira's eyes met mine, and I knew we were thinking the same thing.
Lyrien had found us. Or so I thought!
