“How’s the baby?” I asked the doctor while looking at the ultrasound monitor. I was with James and Monica who were kind enough to invite me here. Monica was least interested at even looking at the monitor. She was 20 weeks pregnant and she began to show way quicker than anyone else.
“It’s perfectly fine!” The doctor replied with a smile. “That’s the heart,” she added while pointing at the monitor. There was a small beating heart that I could barely even make out but it made me tear up.
“That’s really cute,” I cried while hugging James.
“Yes, very cute,” Monica rolled her eyes and wiped away the gel from her belly. She sat up straight and asked the doctor a few more questions. “Is there any way I can stop getting fatter?”
