Laura watched Thomas tremble, smelled the fear rolling off him in waves. The tavern was completely silent, everyone watching.
"Who paid you?" Nikolai asked.
Thomas hesitated.
In a flash, Nikolai's hand shot out, gripping the man's jaw with bruising force. "I won't ask again."
"Alpha Kieran!" Thomas gasped, tears streaming down his face. "It was Alpha Kieran of Silver Moon Pack. He wanted to know about the female you're traveling with."
Laura's blood ran cold. Kieran. Her former mate was looking for her.
Nikolai's eyes darkened dangerously. "And what did you tell him?"
"Just that she's here with you. That she's been visiting the other Major Alphas." Thomas swallowed hard. "He offered triple what you pay me. Said he needed to find her urgently."
