  Scarlett was relentlessly pacing the living-room, biting on her thumb nail. She looked like an animal in a cage, worried and bitter.   Opposite her, Ryke was sitting on the couch, munching on a few baby carrots he’d found in the fridge. He observed Scarlett and to be honest, he pitied her a great deal.
