Scarlett spent a horrible night. She could find sleep at all and turned over and over on her bed until dawn came. She was gnawed by guilt for insulting Ryke last night and by melancholy because Megan was pregnant thanks to Austin.
She knew it was silly to be hurt by that but she couldn’t help it. The reminiscence of her past relationship with Austin made her feel the pain of his betrayal again in full force.
She got out of bed and took a hot bath that helped her relax a bit. She then returned to her bedroom and found that one of her friends from college had just texted her. Scarlett knew what it was going to be about even before opened the message. There was a screenshot picture of Megan and the words underneath :
« OMG ! She’s pregnant. I’m so sorry, honey. »
