CHAPTER FOUR.

727 Words
FRANKLYN’S POV Considering the atmosphere, I realized that she wasn’t exactly comfortable with that conversation. I probably shouldn’t have brought it up like that or made it such a big deal. “I’m sorry, that was insensitive of me, I apologize”. “No, it’s fine” “Sure?” “Yes”, she replied with a light smile. As time passed on, I started understanding Elaine Billman as a person. She had probably had a lot of unpleasant experiences because of her status. I guess rich people too have their insecurities and at the end of the day, we weren’t that different, being rich or poor had nothing to do with it, what mattered was how she felt. I think I lost sight of that also projecting my insecurities. Eventually, the waiter noticed we were done with our coffees and came with the bill, I reached into my pocket and paid for both our coffees. “You didn’t have to pay”, she said as she insisted on paying. “Look, I asked you out, I get to pay, I got it don’t worry”, I replied. We left the building and noticed that we still had the whole day, it was just afternoon. We decided to spend the rest of the day in a themed park. We went on a bunch of rides and attempted a bunch of games, too bad for her I sucked at those park games but she seemed to be surprisingly good at them. I hated themed parks but for some reason, I didn’t hate them as much. We got on the Ferris wheel together, which was extremely large. She seemed to be having so much fun and watching her have fun was fun for me. Eventually, the evening came to an end, it was getting dark. As we both took a walk back to her place I said, “You must love theme parks a lot” “Yeah, my mom used to take me to places like that all the time when I was a kid”. “Wow really, she must be great” “Yeah, she was”, she replied with a low-toned voice. “Did something happen to her?” “Yeah, she did like a week ago” “Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t realize” “It’s fine” “Cause?” “She was shot” “Oh, and your dad?” “Died when I was younger” “Any siblings?” “Sister”. She had been through a lot. My pain was nothing compared to what she must have been feeling. I could tell at that moment that she wasn’t over a lot of things she had been through. I hugged her and assured her that if she ever needed anyone to talk to, I was there then I walked her home. “So, this is goodnight” “Yeah, thank you, I had a great time.” “Me too, so I guess I’ll see you around” “Yeah”, she replies then pecks me on the cheek and walks passed the gates. I stood there a bit, holding my cheek in shock. I chuckled and walked away. ELAINE’S POV I had just had one of the best days in a long time, it was quite the night. As I walked down the path to my house I was stuck in thought. I was slowly starting to learn the kind of person Franklyn Adams was. At one point today, I thought he was just like every other guy. Well, he sort of is but, Franklyn was different in some respect. He knew that I felt uncomfortable about making my being rich a big deal, so, he insisted on paying for the coffee and everything else including the tickets for the games and the ride. He was an apologetic. I didn’t spend anything today. Most people would’ve just used me but he didn’t care. Even if, he knew I had a lot more money than him. Even though I had made up my mind, in all certainty, without a doubt, I was falling in love with Franklyn Adams. It was getting late, the skies darkened, and the day had ended. I wondered what the next day had in store for me.
