We boarded our plane; I've been trying to process everything. Hero names, U.A. High, what even is U.A. High? I was sat next to my older sister and my parents and Liz were sat in seats a few feet away from us.
I turned over to my older sister and said, "Hey, can I... can I tell you something?"
She looked over at me and said, "Sure, what's on your mind?" I didn't know how I should even put this; do I just outright tell her that I don't remember a single thing besides waking up today or what?
"You could've told us earlier, you know! Losing your memory isn't something to take lightly." She whispered.
"H-How did you...?" I said.
"Our Quirk lets us read minds and transfer messages to people's minds. My name's Annie, by the way." That...Was weird. A Quirk? What in the hell is a quirk? I'm pretty sure she's reading my mind right now, but I want to ask her anyway.
"Quirks? What's a Quirk?" I said.
Annie replied, "Quirks are basically superpowers. They started appearing a long time ago, they've become a lot more prominent now, though." I nodded and sat back in the seat, it would be a few hours before we reach Japan, so I decided to fall back asleep.
Annie woke me up, I didn't hear what she said, but I knew we arrived in Japan. We walked out of the plane and walked out of the Airport. Japan, it was beautiful. The city streets were filled with cars and people, markets and street vendors.
"Amazing, this place is incredible!" I yelled.
We walked around for a while, everyone here is really nice and polite, and knew a lot of English, probably because of the tourists. I guess my brain kept the Japanese language in my head, because we all understood it as well. We stopped in the middle of town to eat.
"Sushi sounds nice, let's go!" My mother said. We all ordered the same thing, which is what most people do I assume?
There was a loud scream coming from behind us. I looked back and noticed people running towards us.
"What the hell is going on?" My father said. Somebody pointed at the sky and ran. A giant robot was in front of a building! It looked like a bank?
"ATTENTION CITIZENS! IF YOU DON'T WISH TO SEE A FOOLISH TEENAGER GET SQUASHED, LOOK AWAY! RUN IN FEAR!!" A man from the robot relayed.
"Somebody please! Our daughter is in danger! That maniac has her!" A couple yelled. I looked up and saw her, she used her quirk ability to create these explosives from her arm, but they had no effect on this behemoth of a machine. I stood there, unable to move, from where I was standing, I could see her looking at me, a single tear fell from her eye.
Something inside me snapped, and my arms and legs were wrapped in a violet-blue flowy aura. My body acted on its own and ran towards the robot. I heard my dad scream my name, but I didn't turn back. I couldn't let someone die! I don't know why, but my body won't let me stop running, I'm scared out of my mind, but I need to save her! The robot punched the ground, spreading debris all over, I jumped on the debris that had been scattered in the air. I jumped up from the last piece of debris and skyrocketed towards the girl. The robot opened its mouth, and dropped her. It felt like time slowed down, I needed to be faster, faster than I was going now!
In a rush, I wrapped my arms around her as we zoomed past the robot. "It's okay, I've got you!" I said.
I looked back; the robot shot missiles at the both of us!
"STAY OUT OF THE WAY!" The man inside the robot said. I can't get killed here; I won't let this girl die!
"DORA!" My body moved my legs and sent a huge beam of energy out of it. The missiles had been deflected and flew right into the robot. The robot had a shield up. Keyword, "had." I landed on a rooftop away from the robot.
"Are you alright? Can you stand?" I asked her.
She looked at me, "Yeah, I'm okay." I let go of her and she tried to stand but stumbled. I grabbed her and looked at her leg.
"Your leg, it looks broken. I can carry you still if that's alright." I said. She was about to say something until the robot had unleashed a fist towards us.
I didn't know what to do, could I deflect this? No, there's not enough time. I need to hit it dead on!
"This better work!" I brought my fist back and connected with the robot's fist. The pain was unbearable, but I can't let up!
"TAKE THIS!!" I yelled, I somehow overpowered the robot and blew it's arm up completely. My right arm and my left leg were toast. Every part of my body is burning.
"W-We...need to...go...!" I picked the girl up and using all of the strength I had left, jumped towards her parents and my family.
I looked towards the robot, and the damn thing was still going! It fired another missile at me. I couldn't do anything to stop it, I needed my last leg to at least land and I needed my other arm to hold this girl. I'm doomed. How would I be able to get out of this? Then, before I knew it, a man in a brightly colored suit appeared right in front of me.
"Detroit...SMASH!" He sent a huge gust of air towards the missile and robot. It sent both of them into the air! The robot had exploded in the air. What kind of ability was that?! I looked behind me and noticed that we were going to land into some tables and chairs. I held the girl close to me so she wouldn't get hurt.
"Brace yourself!" I landed back first into the tables and chairs; smoke came off my body due to my quirk. My parents ran towards me.
"Alyx! Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" I struggled to stand up with the girl.
I looked over at my parents and said, "She's hurt, I think her leg is broken." My parents looked at me. Not only was my right arm and left leg broken, but I could feel a couple ribs were broken as well.
"Let your mother help that girl, I can heal you up!" My mother took the girl and put her hand on her leg, some sort of aura surrounded her as she healed the girl. My father healed me, and oh man, it hurt like hell! I guess it's because of the bones reforming in my body, but I didn't think it would hurt this much!
The parents of the girl and that spandex guy came over to us.
"Thank goodness you're okay, Momo! All Might, thank you so much! And, young man, what is your name?" Her mother asked.
"Oh, my name? It's... Alyx, Alyx Leonidus." I said. Her mother and father shook my hand and hugged me.
"Young man, you did a brave thing today!" All Might said as he held an unconscious criminal. "Hmm, wait a second, I know that face!" This All Might guy looked at my father and they shook hands. "You're Overdrive! You were Pro Hero #5 in America! What brings you to Japan?" This All Might guy, I don't know how to feel about him. He's so cool, but so campy.
"Ah, my son here had been sent a recommendation for U.A.!" My father said. I still don't understand what this U.A. High is, I'm guessing it's a school?
"I can see why!" All Might said, "You risked your life to save another, young man! You'll make a fine addition to U.A.!" he said.
I looked up at All Might, then over at Momo.
"Thank you, Alyx." She said.
"Oh, No problem!" We waved at each other as she smiled back towards me. Her and her parents walked away, I looked at the ground. What is this feeling in my chest? It's like, jittery and weird, like my chest was on fire! I guess it might be because of my quirk, maybe?
"Well, I must go! See you soon, Alyx!" All Might said. We waved as All Might jumped into the sky. This is all so weird; how did I even do that? See you soon? What did he mean? What even is going on?! As I was interviewed, I couldn't stop thinking about what I just did. Everyone was asking me how I did it, but I really couldn't give them a straight forward answer. Luckily, my mother and father stepped in for me. The people here must really eat up new stories about these quirks, it felt like hundreds of people were asking me questions all at once.
After that whole fiasco, we got to our new home and we unpacked everything. As I was unpacking my things in my new room, I took the time to figure out who I was exactly. Loads of these things called "Manga" were in my suitcase, a bunch of rock band shirts, and more things from somewhere called "Nevada." After I was done attempting to relearn who I was, I decided to take a walk around.
"Hey, I'm going out for a bit!" I yelled out before I left.
"Just make sure you're home before dinner, Alyx!" I heard my mother yell from another room. I really just needed a minute to clear my mind, everything's been so bizarre, and I just got here!
I walked through town, I was curious to see how different things were here. Not that I really remember my old town, but I'm pretty sure the culture was different here.
I entered a small convenience store, "Good afternoon!" The cashier said. I nodded and smiled; everyone was really polite here! I wonder if it was like that in Nevada? I grabbed a map and some things to munch on and headed to the cashier. "Alright, that'll be... ¥1,368 please!" Geez! That was a lot of money!
"Y-Yen? Is that the same as this?" I pulled out the money I had and the cashier looked at it.
"Hmm... I'll make a deal with you. I'll hold onto these for you, and I'll let you go and exchange this out for Yen! Sounds fair?" The cashier asked me.
"Yeah, I can go do that! Thank you so much!" I quickly got out of the store but ran back in, "Hey, where can I do that at?" I asked him.
"Just go down the street and take a right, there will be a red and gold sign out in front of a building. That's where you can go and exchange your money out for Yen!" He told me. I thanked him again and set off.
As I was making my way to this exchange place, I ran into someone. "O-Oh! I'm so sorry!" I said as I helped her back up.
"It's alright. Mistakes happen." She said.
She looked me up and down, "Hey... Aren't you that kid that destroyed that giant robot today?" She asked me. People already knew about that? That happened not even two hours ago!
"Yeah, that was me." I said to her.
She stuck her hand out, "Himiko." She said.
I shook her hand, "Alyx. But I'm guessing you already knew that, right?" I said with a laugh. She smiled, I didn't even notice that she had some sharp teeth! Almost like a shark!
"From where you're going, I'm assuming you're heading to the bank, correct?" Himiko asked me.
I nodded my head, "Yep! I was going to-"
I reached for my wallet, but it was gone! I looked up and noticed that Himiko had it in her hands, but how?
She giggled, "I already know! So, what do you want to know about Japan, Robo Killer?" I laughed at the nickname she gave me.
"Well, I guess everything! I'm not entirely too sure about the lay out of this place." I told her.
She gave me back my wallet, "Let's go, I can show you around." We walked around Japan, Himiko showed me some of the "coolest" spots to her. One of which was a back alleyway, I'm not really sure why, but I guess whatever floats your boat! We sat down on some steps that overlooked a nice little lake.
"So, I've got a question." I asked her.
"Oh? What is it? I think I might have an answer." She responded.
I looked down at the ground and clasped my hands together. "Well... It's just that... You aren't a different person if you lose your memory, right? Like, you're still the same, no matter what?" I asked her.
"Of course! What kinda question is that?" Himiko exclaimed. "Did you lose your memory or something?" She said while laughing. I think she noticed that I wasn't saying anything and she stopped her laughter, "Oh... You did, didn't you?" She said.
"Yeah... Ever since I woke up this morning, I couldn't remember a thing. Honestly, I'm surprised that I even saved that girl from that robot." I unclasped my hands and rested my head on my hand.
"I see, are you doubting yourself or something? I don't really do to well with doubters." Himiko said.
I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know. I guess I think that if I didn't have to worry about this memory loss s**t, a lot of things would be going easier for me." I pulled out my phone to check the time. It was 6:00 already!?
"OH s**t!!" I shouted.
Himiko looked alarmed, "W-what?! What happened?" She shouted as well.
"I totally forgot my mom wanted me home by dinner, and it's 6:00 now!" I quickly got up and waved goodbye to Himiko, "Catch ya around, Robo Killer!" She said as I activated my quirk and ran as fast as I possibly could back home.
I slowly opened the door, and there was my mother, standing in front of it. "Hey... Mom..." I said in a weedy voice with a nervous smile.
"You're late. How are you late getting home, when you're as fast as a bullet train in Gear Two? How?!" My mother said frustratedly. Gear Two?
"M-Mom I-" Before I could explain myself, my mother cut me off.
"No excuses, mister!" She said as she walked away from me.
"But Mom, I lost my memory!" I blurted out. I immediately tensed up and my eyes widened.
My mother turned around, "What? Is... Is that true, Alyx?" My mother asked. Annie came downstairs, she must've overheard us.
"Yep, it's true. He told me while we were on the plane coming here." Annie said.
My mother walked up to me and hugged me, "Why didn't you say something earlier, Alyx?" She asked me.
"I didn't want to make you guys worry about me, so I honestly wasn't going to say anything for a while." I confessed to her.
"Sooo, is that a "yes" to the old baby pictures or...?" I heard Annie say.
I sat there for a few hours relearning everything about myself, I couldn't believe that I never had a scar on my left eye!
"And this was when you and Annie blew up one of the guest rooms in our house!" She said.
"Wait, why would you have a picture of that?" I asked my mother.
"She keeps tabs on everything, and I mean EVERYTHING." Annie told me.
"Oh, I do not!" My mother exclaimed. "It's good to make memories out of things! We sure as hell wouldn't be sitting here having an easier time with your brother's Amnesia, now would we?" My mother said. Talk about being put on the spot...
"Hey, you wouldn't happen to have those pictures on your phone, would you?" Annie asked me. I pulled out my phone and went into my photos, there were loads of photos with me and a bunch of other people!
"Woah, how come I never thought about this?" I said. We looked through all of the photos on my phone, we came across one that almost made me cry. It was a picture of me and I'm assuming my older brother, "That's... Kariya..." I muttered to myself. How did I know?
"Hey! Look at that! It looks like you've retained some things at least." Annie said to me. I'm not sure why I almost cried, but something about that picture gave off despair.
