Chapter 9
Mandy flew home late the next day. It was already dark when she landed. She was picked up at the airport by Rita, Robert's girl.
"Where's my family?" Mandy asked when they were in the car. "How come none of them came with you to meet me?"
Rita shrugged. "I guess they were all too busy."
Mandy's feelings were hurt, and she pouted the rest of the way home. She had missed them so much, and they hadn't even bothered to come to meet her!
Not only that, but the house was dark when they got there. They weren't even going to meet her at home! Now she was really hurt! She picked up her bags and trudged up the walk.
When she opened the front door, suddenly every light in the house went on at once!"
"Surprise!Surprise, Mandy!"
It was a welcome-home surprise party!
