Rabnoor’s P.O.V.
After exiting the elevator, she was greeted by the guard that was sitting at the big glass door of the reception area.
“Good morning Madam” the guard greeted her.
“Good morning Prakash ji” she greeted back with a big grin plastered on her face.
(Ji is an endearment used to show respect to elders.)
“Kaise ho aap Prakash ji? Ghar pe sab theek hai?” she asked the guard.
(How are you Prakash Ji? How is everyone at home?)
“Mein theek hoon Madam, Bhagwaan ki kirpa hai” he replied back.
(I am fine Madam, All is God grace)
She nodded and entered the glass door that was opened for her by guard.
She quickly ushered towards the digital access c*m attendance machine and swiped her employee card to mark her attendance.
After doing that she headed toward the reception.
A beautiful lady who was in her early thirties welcomed her with a big smile on her face,
She was talking to someone on company’s phone. The phone was held between her shoulder and ear and she was writing something on her notepad while answering her call.
I waited for her to finish her call, as I need to ask her something.
But my mind was still wandering with the thought of that i***t.
I don’t know why he affected me so much.
Though I am very self controlled person and I never lose my calm so easily, but I don’t know why that happened to me today in the lift and I outburst on him.
His penetrating gaze bore holes in my soul, as if he is searching for something and reading me.
I do certainly not like this at all.
Neither I liked his eyes reading my soul nor did I like his eyes affecting me so much.
Maybe this is the reason of my outburst.
“Hey Noor, Morning” she greeted me to get my attention.
“Hi Gina, good morning to you too” I replied her.
“Girl I got to know you got stuck in the lift” she asked me worriedly.
“Yeah.. it stopped near 7th floor.” I replied back.
“Are you alright?” she asked me concerned.
“I am absolutely fine dear, don’t worry about me.” I told her.
“I was so much worried about you as I got to know that you were stuck in the elevator with someone.” Her concern was laced in her voice.
“Yeah but don’t worry about me, I am good.” I said.
And to change this topic I asked about Satya Sir.
“Is Satya Sir reached his cabin?”
“No he is still at the ground floor with his team.” She replied me
“He will be here soon, maybe in another 10 mins or so, I guess.” She added.
“Ok, I will call him later, anyways I am getting late. Mr. Thakur must be waiting for me.’ I said looking at my wrist watch.
“Alright then, see you around.” She said cheerfully.
“Bye” I said my goodbyes and turn on my heels.
I ushered towards cafeteria to grab a nice cup of coffee.
In northern India, people like to have tea preferably, but I am a big time coffee lover.
I grabbed a big mug of coffee and went to my place.
As we are from Administration Department, our seating place is on big open area, like a hall, with open cubicles for different department.
Any department can easily access us whenever they need our assistance and help.
Only Mr. Thakur and Satya Sir have their personal cabins from Admin Department.
So now I am seated on my seat comfortably, sipping on my coffee and checking my e-mails on my desktop.
I was savouring my coffee, when someone grabbed my forearm.
I choked on my coffee that I was drinking.
I coughed badly and all eyes turned on me as you know we are seated in big hall.
It was my friend Pooja.
She patted me gently and caressed my back to soothe my uneasiness.
I smacked her arm and glared her.
“Oh God Pooja, are you out of my mind.” I said taking deep breaths.
“You almost scared me to death.” I added.
And she giggled.
“Laugh...., you find it funny right?” I asked her and she was still laughing.
“I don’t want to talk to you. Don’t show me your damn face again.” I said annoyed.
Her laughter died immediately and she tensed.
“Oh come on Noor, why are you so upset?” she asked me irritatingly
“I know very well that you got stuck in the lift and that too with a guy…” she said wiggling her eyebrows and there is hint of amusement in her voice.
And I know what does that mean,…here comes the tsunami of questions from her side…
“Ooh Noor, come on yaar, just tell me who was that guy?
Was he hot?
Was he from our company?
Do I know him?
What did you both did in the lift?
And did he…”
“ Oh Shut up Pooja” I snapped on her before she could finish her list of silly and annoying questions.
“I don’t know who he was and take my words I don’t want to even know.” I said firmly
“I can sense that something must have happened in the lift that’s why you are denying my questions…oh tell me Noor.” She said almost pleading me.
“No, nothing happened in the lift and nothing can happen between us.” I stated
“But why?” she asked concerned
“You won’t understand Pooja, so just leave it” I said trying to avoid her.
And my phone started ringing.
I reached for my phone and looked at the screen flashing Mr. Thakur’s number on it.
I quickly gestured Pooja to remain quiet and answered the call.
“Good Morning Sir” I greeted him
“Good Morning Rabnoor, what are you doing right now?” he asked me.
“Sir nothing important, just responding some e-mails.” I told him.
“Ok great, you need to come to my cabin; I have a new assignment for you.” He informed me.
“Ok Sir, I’ll be there in a minute.” I responded him.
“Not now. I’ll see you around 10:30.” He informed me again.
“Ok sir, I’ll be there on time.” I said and he disconnected the call.
Pooja looking at me intently and waiting for the call to end.
“Now what?” she asked me.
“Some new assignment” I informed her sighing.
“Phir se band bajegi teri” she said turning to her desktop
(It’s a kind of saying or proverb that means : you are now a gone case or you are screwed now)
I completed my work that is to be done by me and at around 10:20 am I took a notepad and my pen and ushered towards Mr. Thakur’s cabin.
