Adrian noticed the hesitation on the maid's face immediately. "Agnes, what is it?"
The woman stepped forward at once. "When Martha first came to the Cole family, she did mention that her son had an intellectual disability. He had been placed in a special school."
The two had joined the household around the same time and were fairly close, so she knew Martha's situation well.
Serena asked, "Do you know when her son suddenly became normal?"
Agnes thought carefully. "About eight years ago. I remember she was extremely happy that day, saying her son had recovered. It was summer."
Serena nodded in understanding, then turned to Adrian.
"Eight years ago, was there any child around Martha, or connected to the Cole family, who was originally normal but suddenly became mentally impaired?"
