Only as she reached it did Betty see her and holding out her hand and calling out,
“Oh, Tarina – don’t go! There can be no – secrets from Harry and we – must tell him why you are – here – and how much you – mean to me.”
Tarina ran towards the bed.
“The only thing that matters,” she said, “is that now you can be happy, dearest, and that is wonderful!”
She kissed Betty on the cheek and Harry asked,
“What is this secret you have been keeping from me?”
“Tarina is my first cousin,” Betty replied, “and I love her very much and I want you to love her too.”
“And so I shall,” Harry answered, “but at the moment, my darling, I can think of no one but you.”
They looked at each other and were lost in a world of their own.
