“Just a bit more to go,” Hui-Ying said. “But I’m starving.” She pressed her hand against her stomach. “Can’t we stop and eat?” “Soon. I just want to reach a certain area.” “All right.” Hui-Ying snapped the reins for the horse to run faster. They still had some sunlight, as the horse crossed the vast desert plain. Amethyst noticed something reflecting in the distance and tried to see what it was, but it was too far. After a few minutes had passed, they finally made it to a spot to rest. There was not much around, but there were a few trees around. Amethyst hopped off the horse as Hui-Ying told her to gather kindling to start a fire while she prepared a meal.
