Green Day- When I Come Around Delilah: "It's getting late," Lucien informs me as I sort through this week's collections. "You got somewhere to be?" I ask without looking up at him. "I do," he nods. "Okay, go," "I'm not going to leave you here alone. Let's go home. You can use the rest," he stands up. "What is this about, Luc? B.B. getting in your head already?" I smile. "What? What are you talking about?" "She's been doing the same to me. Playing the victim card to get me to play with her more often. It's something she does when she's not getting enough attention," "Okay, so? She wants more of our attention. Is that so bad?" "Bella is like that, Luc. You give her what she wants and she's only going to want more or get bored. Everything has an expiration date for her," I wave him off. "Are you f*****g with me right now?" he scoffs. I shut my laptop to give him my full attention. Lucien can be just as needy as my sister at times but the thing with Lucien is that he stops once he's got an answer. B.B. never stops. She keeps going and going until we've got a fistful of each other's hair in our hands. "Sit down," I tap the table. "I'm not going to sit the f**k down, Del. Do you have any idea what B.B. has been through this whole first term or the last two years?" "Oh, my god, Lucien," I groan annoyed. "Yeah, she's been through it. We all have. You don't see anyone else moping about it. She's fine. She's safe. She's got five others to entertain her," "Del, you're my best friend and I love you but you can be a real f*****g cunt sometimes," he turns to leave. "Luc," I call after him. "Are you coming or not?" he growls. I sigh gathering my things. I follow him out and get my mother's car. It smells like B.B. now. It smells a little like Carson as well. I don't want to ask why. "She said she wanted things to go back to the way they used to," I remind him. "Yeah, she did but she also understands that they're not going to. She just spent the last two years of her life alone in the house we wouldn't dare stay in alone looking up at the ghost of your f*****g corpse, Delilah. Did you not miss her?" "It wasn't like that for me," "What was it like for you then?" he shouts. "You're not talking to me. You're not talking to her. You're acting like you don't give a f**k about her," "She was the only f*****g thing that kept me going," I growl. The glass on the passenger door shatters. I lean away when the wind pushes the pieces inside. Some of them cut my right arm. He hits the brakes skidding to a stop. "f**k. I'm sorry. That happens more than-" I scratch the back of my neck feeling frustrated. "I was in hell, Lucien. Literal f*****g hell. Or purgatory. I don't know but I had to fight every waking moment. I can't explain to you what I saw or what I did without-" "Without what?" he pushes. I look over at him and feel tears sliding down my face. "Del," "I know she wants to talk to me about this. I know dad told her where I was. Her lab is covered in f*****g research. I'm just not ready to talk about it, okay? She's not the only one who lost time. She's not the only that was haunted by the memory of her sister. She gets me back. I will never get those two years back. She's not-" I stop. I'm on the verge of breaking down. I've been fighting it for weeks now. Lucien pulls the e-brake and comes around to pull me out of the car. "What are you doing?" "You don't get to hide that s**t from us. It's not you're f*****g job to be our mom. You're our friend and if you have to listen to all our bullshit, you're going to tell us yours. You're not that much older than her. You're legit eleven months older than her. I'm older than you, so cut that s**t out," "This isn't about who's older," 'This is about you being the top dog," he points at me. "Admit it. You hate that she got us going as fast as she did. You hate that we're a lot stronger with her. You-" "All right!" I shout. My body pushes out the frustration I've been holding in for a while. His mouth falls open and the sound of the car hitting the other side of the road crashes behind me. "B.B.'s car," he chokes out and covers his mouth. "B.B.'s car? Why would it be B.B.'s car?" "She killed your mom. She has dibs on all her s**t," he buries his hands in his hair as he moves around the flipped car. "That's dumb," I drop down on the side of the road to sit. "It was an accident. I said I'm not ready to talk about it," "Can you come pick us up?" he says. I look up to see he's on the phone. "Well then, who is available? Car, please send someone to pick us up. We're outside the ranch. Yeah. No, I'll call the tow truck. Thanks," he tucks the phone into his jacket and turns to look at me. "You should tell her that instead of the runaround. She'll become unbearable if you keep this s**t from her," "More than she is now?" I scoff. "Yes," he drops down next to me and laughs. "You're not the only one she blindsided, Dilly. I-f**k. She scared me," "I told you she would," "No, not like that. I mean she scared me. It got real, real fast. I said some dumb s**t and Carson backed me up. Do you want to know what she did?" "What?" "She pinned us against each other and she did it without lifting a f*****g finger," he laughs. "You're not dealing with cute eager to please Bella anymore. This b***h is ruthless. She's been watching us while we ignored her. She knows us like we know each other," "She's obsessive. It's always been that way. It's why she's so good at everything. She pushes and she pushes until she's versed in something and then she drops it. I know. She's my sister. You're in serious s**t, you know that? You're f****d. Completely and utterly f****d," "I know that," "No, you don't. If you or Carson ever try to leave, you'll end up in a f*****g jar in her lab, Luc. Any one of you. You belong to her now. Body and soul," "I know," he smiles. "That doesn't scare the f**k out of you?" "Nah," he shakes his head. "It just shows how perfect we are for one another," "What the f**k did she do to you?" I laugh. "I'm in love with her. She's mine," "What about the others?" "The other crows are mine too," he rips a handful of grass blades and sprinkles them on the pavement. "I feel them. Jimenez and Victor. It feels like our hearts are beating as one. It's not a s****l thing. I don't know what it is but they're mine and the worst part is that they know it. They f*****g know it. She bound us," "She?" "The night we killed those KKKs. It was like we were in a trance. Obviously, I'm not going to go into details about us f*****g your sister but holy s**t. I don't use this word a lot but that s**t was magical," "Shut up," I groan at the way he puts up his hands to further enhance the way he says 'magical'. "I'm serious. I love them almost as much as I love her. Vic's birthday is coming up. I got him a gold steampunk-looking puzzle box. He's into weird s**t like that. B.B. and I correlated," "Oh, s**t," I say worriedly. "Yeah," he sighs. "I grew two inches since then. I've been bulking up and not because I'm eating more. My senses are sharper than ever. My mind doesn't feel as full as it usually does. I'm not struggling with control. I feel amazing. This was meant to happen to us. I don't know why but it's like we're being prepared for something big. I'm scared, Del. I'm scared because I know that whatever is coming isn't here for us. It's here for her," The black Camaro pulls up next to the wrecked car. Carson climbs out with his mouth hanging open as he looks over the destruction I caused. Since coming back, I've been having trouble controlling my abilities. No, not since coming back. Since B.B. shared her energy with me. Chaotic energy is stronger than controlled energy and mixing them can be-Chaotic. "What did you f*****g assholes do to my girl's car?" Carson growls. Lucien smirks looking over at me. "Here we go. It's their favorite f**k spot," he whispers. I laugh. "Oh, f**k," I stand up. "I'm gonna have to apologize, aren't I?" "Yeah, you're going to buy her a new f*****g car," Carson scoffs. "What happened?" "B.B.'s energy is stupid strong. I can't control the telekinesis and I set my journal on fire this morning," I shrug. "You need to exercise," Carson motions for me to get in the car. "Move around. Her energy isn't like yours. You need to learn to balance it," "He's right. You need a f**k buddy," Lucien laughs. He stands up and goes around the car. I follow behind him and climb into the back seat. "I don't know," I say. "The first time I ever let someone in she turned out to be a f*****g psycho," "Story of our lives," Carson laughs. "I didn't say fall in love. I said get a f**k buddy,' Lucien offers me a book. The cover is red. Dark Lover. "Shaking Terra is going to take a while. I know you. You're going to obsess about all the signs before you let it go. That frustration only amplifies the energy. You gotta let it out," "What is this?" I ask looking it over. "Obsess on that. It's weird vampire erotica. I found it in Dylan's locker," he laughs. "Stop stealing s**t from him. He's going to bite your ass again," Carson scolds. "Tell this ass hole to stop f*****g with the vampire in our stone," "Lucien, stop messing with Dylan," I say. He groans and that's usually a disinclined yes. I read the first chapter of the book. It's a scene where one of the characters gets blown to hell in his luxury car outside of a club. "Does he have more of these?" "Yeah, he does," Lucien laughs. "There's like twelve of those. I hid them all over B.B.'s room. Find them," "Her room looks like a f*****g abandoned bookstore," I sigh. "I know. I love it. She has some crazy s**t in there," he smiles. "She has some weird ritualistic s**t I want to try," "s****l ritualistic stuff?" I ask. "You've gotta catch up. Lucien is f*****g insane and she matches his crazy," Carson laughs. "So, yeah. s****l ritualistic s**t," I laugh and tune them out as they start talking about the new clubhouse. B.B.'s energy is something else. I don't want to keep it inside of me and if s*x is a way out, then I might have to give it a go. I don't want it inside of me anymore. How she deals with this s**t day in and day out is beyond me. I can't imagine what dad's energy must be like. I get where Lucien is coming from but how do I explain to them that I'm not the same person that hung herself from that chandelier? How do I tell them that I haven't been nineteen years old for decades?
