Chapter 24: Tricks and TreatsWHEN KATE ARRIVED BACK AT the motel after her day at the dam, she found a note from Macready about taking Zach to an Ojibwe storytelling session. Still shaken from her experience at the dam, she crumpled up the note and threw it in the garbage, angry with Macready for taking Zach without her permission, and fearful over Zach being in a strange situation.
She checked her email, finding a confirmation from Jonas that the DNA results on Mary Two Rivers would be ready tomorrow morning, and that both Leiddia Barker’s DNA samples and Rick Calhoun’s clothes had arrived at the CSIS lab. She emailed him a summary of her day, omitting her strange vision, and then signed off just as a knock came.
