Chapter 12: Leaving HomeTHE NEXT MORNING, KATE WAS all ready, with Quincy walked and their bags sitting by the door by six-thirty, waiting for Lessard to arrive. She’d been up since five, tired of laying awake in bed worrying about the trip. Advised not to dress as if she were from a big city, she’d gone with jeans, hiking shoes, and a white cotton sweatshirt. Zach seemed more subdued than last night, but she just put it down to his being as tired as she was. Lessard arrived precisely at seven with a stretch limo. Grabbing their parkas, she led Zach and Quincy to the car. At the airport, Lessard brought them quickly past security and into a private airline club lounge, thickly carpeted and furnished with dark leather armchairs and sofas. They seemed to have the lounge all to themselves.
