Chapter Fifteen
Carl read the report from Sgt Whitelaw and dropped it onto his desk.
The officers at Carrick had traced the movements of every white Ford Transit van registered to anyone living in the seaside town and placed them at locations away from 5 Squall Avenue on the morning Christine Viking had been murdered.
Carl scratched the back of his head and considered the implications of the report. If none of the locals could be placed at the scene of the murder, the killer had to be someone not from Carrick, and if the victim had opened the door to him, as Dean Lang had suggested, either she knew the killer or he was someone most people would open the door for, like a delivery driver with a package in his hands.
