CHAPTER THREE

1201 Words
Darian's POV To say I'm pissed is an understatement. The footage shows that Stephanie was the one who caused the fall not Selena. But since it was a video-only recording, I couldn't hear what they argued about. ‘Why would Stephanie lie to me?’ I thought to myself. Just then, my private phone rang. Not everyone has access to that number so I knew it was important. “Speak,” I said to the caller immediately after I answered the call. “Not even a hello? Not what I was expecting from my dear twin brother,” Darius, my twin brother, was the one who called. We're not particularly close, but to have him call me now means there's something important he wants to tell me. “Speak now Darius,” I said, my rude tone not bothering him. “Say brother, you've made a very terrible mistake that you'll forever regret,” Darius is someone that enjoys playing with people's minds before going straight to the point. “Now is not a good time for your mind games,” I responded and he smirked. “Actually now is the best time, it couldn't be any other time,” “I never knew that one day you'd make a costly mistake, after all you're the most perfect son of the Johnson family,” Darius said with a chuckle. I could imagine his expression now, this is the second time Darius has told me of a mistake all my life and I know it is definitely not good. “Out with it Darius, if the mistake is going to cost me then you should tell me so I can get a solution immediately,” “Selena was the woman you were with that night at Bay Harbor,” Darius said and I stiffened in shock. A long silence passed between us. I pondered on his words. Darius isn't one to make such jokes and there's a likelihood that what he said is true. Before I could respond, his next words shocked me to the core, those words made me regret how unfair I've been to Selena. “She's pregnant with your child,” Selena's POV Splash. I woke up with a gasp as someone poured very cold water on me. Coughing lightly, I became aware of my surroundings, my hands and feet were tied. “Wakey wakey princess or should I say prisoner,” A rough voice sounded above me. In front of me were four men, I noticed three of them were armed with guns. My heart beats erratically in my chest as I try to think of a way to get out of this situation. “What do you want?” I asked in a trembling voice. I was scared, but still tried to put up a brave face. I saw the same masked man that attacked me sitting in the corner of the room. None of them responded to me, instead I was treated like air. “If it's money you want, I can give it to you, but you have to let me go,” I said again and was met with silence. They just stared at me. I felt intimidated in their presence. Just as I was about to speak up again, the masked man stood up and suddenly started walking towards me. The four men in front of me immediately gave way for him to stand before me. “You're here because you caught the eyes of our boss, and you dared to make someone angry,” He said fiercely, running chills down my spine. “And no amount of money will make us free you, you're now at our mercy,” The man said as he squatted down, a sinister smile on his face, while he reached out his hand to grab my chin tightly. “You're going to regret this,” I said to him to which he just laughed. I try to think of who their boss is. I live a simple low-key life so how did I catch the eyes of his boss? The only person I can think of that I made angry is Stephanie and she doesn't have the courage to do this. Darian would never kidnap me, if he wanted to punish me he wouldn't use such methods. I scanned the place I'm in, a room that looks like it's in a dilapidated building. I don't want to be impulsive by screaming for help which will anger my kidnappers. I just hope Darian will come and save me. There's still a dull ache in my stomach from when I fell in the hospital's garden. The sound of a lady's voice caught my attention, one that's oddly familiar. Soon I hear footsteps close by thanks to the thin walls of the building. I looked up to see the new person that came in. A look of horror on my face from recognizing her. “You really think you can get away with being pregnant for Darian, right?” In front of me was Stephanie, reality dawned on me that she orchestrated the entire kidnapping. “Why would you do this Stephanie, so what if I'm pregnant with Darian's child? He won't believe me like you said,” I said to her, my only hope to leave here safely is if a miracle can happen. I know Stephanie is crazy but I never knew her obsession with Darian can make her do something as drastic as this. “Ha, do you think I'm a fool? You still don't understand the gravity of your situation Selena, let me make it f*****g clear,” Stephanie said, her voice sharp. “Your life is in my f*****g hands and trust me when I say today will be your last day,” Her words scared me to the core. How do I get out of this situation alive? “Steph…Stephanie, you don't have to do that okay, I promise I'll leave for good, I'll be out of your life and Darian's too, pls don't hurt me,” I pleaded, but she just laughed at me. Stephanie walked closer to where I was and kicked me in the stomach, the pain made me cry out, she didn't stop, but kept on kicking me. What felt like ages passed before she stopped. My whole body was in deep pain as I clutched my stomach, I couldn't concentrate on anything else except for the pain. “Ensure she loses the baby,” I heard Stephanie say before she walked out of the room. I looked up to see the men coming closer, I knew I was in grave danger, but I couldn't run. They started to kick and hit me all over my body till I fainted from the pain. But before I fainted, I felt a warm liquid trailing down my legs. I had this guy feeling that my child won't survive even though I was desperately trying to cover my stomach from being hit. Just before I succumbed to the darkness, I saw one of the kidnappers, who happ ened to be a very close fan of mine, and that person is my brother, Jacob Bruce.
