He did seem to have turned over a new leaf though, which was obviously a good thing, and a step in the right direction if nothing else (as long as that step wasn't towards the edge of the three hundred page book that he was precariously balanced on, or into the path of an oncoming pensioner). In fact, ever since Ollie had had a little `chat' with him at Jocular's castle, Mandrake had only had one slip up when he tried to end it all by running a bath, getting in, and dropping a AAA battery into the water.
Feeling a little guilty, and not wanting to let Ollie down he'd confessed his transgression to the half vampire, who, much to his regret, seemed to have unwittingly become Mandrake's unofficial, anti-suicide sponsor. (If it'd been made official, Ollie would have told him to drop dead).
