Chapter Seven

2164 Words

Chapter SevenGeorge and Bernice were in London, England – again, but Astria argued with her mother on their cell phones as though they were in the same room. Neither woman recognized the futility of it. “Bill Gates doesn't have a degree, neither does Mark Zuckerberg. Or Chris Hughes. I know you worked your way up to a Master's, Mom, and Dad has a Doctorate of Law. Whoopie ding. Both of you knew what you wanted. I don't know what I want yet. I want to go to Europe again. I haven't been there since I was a child and you took me with you to show me your overseas holdings. I want to experience life by myself,” Astria said. To her ears it sounded like whining. She cleared her throat and began to wither into a very small child once more, just like a three-year-old not wanting to go to daycare.
