Chapter ThreeDRAKE'S FAMILY
Lori's tenth birthday was spent playing miniature golf at West Edmonton Mall with Robyn, Drake and Julia, and Drake's parents, Ash and Joy-Lynn, who was well named as she laughed a lot and seemed joyful indeed, thought Lori. The stripes on their Nike shoes glowed yellow under the black lights on the course, and their teeth shone blue.
“Oh, boy,” Lori said and stood on a fluorescent rock.
“Having fun?” Joy-Lynn's teeth flashed as she hit the white ball through the windmill into a hole in one.
“Not as much as we are.” Drake's father patted Robyn's shoulder. “Your turn, Princess.”
“I'm your Princess.” Lori picked up a glowing ball. Her sleeves flashed. “You said so, Ash.”
“You're the Queen for today.” Joy-Lynn smiled again. “Robyn's now the Princess.”
